Lovely bristle/hair brushes carefully brought to a fine point.__I needed something to sign some works. When this became available I realized something designed for calligraphy should make for a lovely signature. These do just that.__These come in a traditional (Asian) brush roll. There is a double layer of pockets, so you could add some brushes into the roll if you wished. The tie cord is a little thin, but that could easily be replaced if the need should arise.__Each brush has a plastic cap to protect the ends. That's not new, but what is nice about these is that the end cap is tapered, so it is easy to place back on the brushes.__I thought the stand shown in the photographs was also part of the set, but it was not, so be aware of that.__ Making a brush flow to such a point is quite an art. I don't know how long these will last as I am ignorant of the factors that truly make a brush long lived. However, the production control executed to make the ends so perfect makes me think they know brushes and so I am hopeful they will last.

I have been a painter for a very long time...about 30 years now...but I have always worked in oil, and used very particular brushes. Recently I've found myself branching out into new mediums and, as such, a new variety of brush experiences. These are a great way to get introduced into a new method, without having to invest a lot. Now...knowing brushes as I do, I know there will be a vast difference between these and the highest quality of their kind...but that kind of investment in the highest quality shouldn't really be made until you know if you're going to like it. These are really great for that. Easy on the budget. You get a feel for the type of brushwork. And they actually look really nice on my work bench. I like them.

I have a few of these types of Calligraphy brushes, I have been learning how to use them in art. I wanted a set that I can display though, I thought these were really beautiful. I would honestly love some hand crafter ones but I think these are great for now. They come if different sizes and feel amazing. I want to get a stand for them. Even the case they come in is nice looking.

I got these brushes to use while learning how to create Sumi-e paintings. I wasn’t sure what brush sizes I would need so I wanted a variety and since I am a beginner, I didn’t need an expensive professional set of brushes. These brushes are good quality and the set includes 8 different types of brushes so it is ideal for my purpose. I tested all the brushes and I like them a lot. There were no loose bristles, and they held their shapes well. These are comfortable to hold and I felt like I had good control. I could create a wide range of thicknesses and effects using them. I also like the brush roll this comes in. It looks like it is made of bamboo reeds so it has a very traditional Chinese appearance. It also keeps everything organized so you can store it all together.

I am a total beginner, signed up for a class. This is a beautiful set of brushes of various sizes, that seems well made. I look forward to using them!
