A New Type of Old Fashioned Lantern
In my experience Mason jars had just a few major uses. Of course they were for canning fruits and vegetables, and in some places for drinking sweet tea or lemonade. As a kid we used them to hold lightning bugs for a while on a warm summer night. Now we use them for garden lanterns. What I like about these lights is that they are portable and bright enough to make them handy as lanterns to light up dark places when a flashlight isn't nearby. We keep one hanging near the doorway to light up the lock for our keys when the porch light is off. I gave Mom a set to hang from low garden hooks to light a pathway kept in shadows by other lights in the buildings around her yard. These are much brighter than the cheap stake-type solar garden lights. Each jar has a tightly bundled string of mini LEDs with a warm white glow--not that harsh cold LED white on other sets. You need to stretch the lights out and bundle them up into a loose ball to get them distributed evenly inside the jar. They look really nice hanging randomly around the garden too. I wished I had bought more than 4 because I kept finding spots I wanted to hang another one.The lights, jar lids , solar panels and battery compartments are separate from the glass part . If the glass cracks or breaks you should be able to get a standard Mason jar to replace it. Keep them in a place with enough sun to allow them to fully charge. If not in the right spot they'll slowly run down the battery. They automatically come on when the ambient light fades and shut off automatically when it increases. That means other lights nearby can make it so bright the jar lights will fail to come on or shut off too soon if you flip on a porch light or outdoor security lights. The only down side I found was a minor one that I hope was a fluke--one of the battery covers was missing. Fortunately the AA rechargeable battery fits tightly without it, so it was not a big issue.

Much brighter than I expected
The firefly lights look so charming shining through the glass jar. The solar collector is very efficient for this time of year. I live in Bellevue, WA. (a suburb of Seattle) and the Fall can be overcast or rainy. Yet, these gather enough sunlight to keep plugging along. They arrived promptly (Thanks, Amazon Prime), were packed very well, were easy to turn on and all were functional. I was surprised at how bright they were. My daughter and I love to garden, so "artsy" touches in our courtyard and backyard add to the charm of our gardens. Even though this time of year we don't sit outside as often, it's nice to look out a window and see the lights twinkling.

Beautiful Solar lights
I wanted solar lights to hang on my deck. When they arrived I did not realize they are glass. They are beautiful glass mason type jars. I am using them on tables on my deck instead of hanging them up. The lights are bright and look nice at night. Highly recommend!

Remove the white tab; then works great!
I was hesitant to purchase these, based on all the reviews about duds. But mine work fine. I suspect that the problem is not the product but the bad instructions. You have to remove a little white tab next to the battery under the lid. Then it works great! (This is not mentioned in the instructions.) I put mine out at dusk the first evening. It was too late in the day to properly charge, but they did flicker on a little. But then the following evening, after charging all day in the sun, they came on just fine and are lovely and magical. I’d give them 5 stars if they had good instructions. Instead the instructions are incomplete and a poor translation. Oh also, they say to remove a plastic film on the solar panel, but mine had no such film.

So cheery!
I love these jars of "fire flies" sitting on my porch railing. I've had them for a couple of years now and they are still twinkling away.

Ordered this set as a replacement for the last one we loved them so much
The last set lasted about 3 years but we lost many to storm damage. You do have to make sure to empty out the condensation on occasion. I think they would last longer if the manufacturer would drill tiny holes in the bottom of the jar for condensation drain image. But they’re beautiful

Cute, but not great quality
These little mason jar lamps are sweet, but the quality isn't great. One of them doesn't work at all, and a couple are significantly dimmer than the rest. They're not that expensive, so you get what you pay for.

Purchased From A Few Vendors And These Were The Best Quality
I have purchased a few of these firefly mason jar sets from different vendors and these by far have been the best. The jars were full sizes they charge during the day and they literally stay lit from sundown to sun up! I'm very impressed and will definitely be purchasing more to replace one's received that weren't that great from other companies. Very happy with purchase I definitely recommend!
