Antenna itself looks exactly like the one pictured
It needed a rubber washer to be attached to mount flush on my Baofeng uv-5r (the washer was included in the packaging). I am a little confused about the whole Hypario/Nagoya thing. Antenna itself looks exactly like the one pictured, but the packaging was not like the one posted by the previous buyer (he had received a green packaging for it that does state Nagoya on it). Mine was manila color and only said Hypario HPA-701 on it - it did not say Nagoya anywhere on the packaging. That being said, antenna itself seems to be very well made. I cannot comment on the reception/transmission improvement as of yet, but FM radio reception definitely has improved. I was going to consider sending it back and getting the one branded "Nagoya", but have changed my mind since the quality of this one is good. One thing that made me laugh was an imprint on the packaging that said the power gain was not 10W, but 50W!

Maybe I got a lemon... try this instead.
I'll be returning this, unfortunately. The antenna I got was markedly worse than the one my HT came with.I had purchased this because the OEM rubber ducky was overheating. This was a suggested fix, but didn't work.Try using the UV-5B mentioned in the article below, no washer or grommet needed, and did better than the original, despite being an original itself, ( possibly ASIN: B016QNACKM but check to make sure)Google:"Replacing original UV-5R antennas by Hans PD0AC"To see the UV-5B antenna.Maybe a Nagoya NA-771R will do better. BEST ANTENNA
Wish the rubber washer that came with it was black but a Sharpie fixed that. Antenna worked surprisingly well, even better than the Nagoya NA771 that I had been using for better reception previously. This antenna has it beat so will not need to keep changing anymore. Access to repeaters in the area have also improved. I will certainly get more to space the antennas on my other radios.

Questionable improvement
I just received this today and tested the reception on two different BF-F9 V2 HP's. It seems to have about the same reception and still able to hit the same repeaters. It does not get me out further to additional repeaters. Same reception quality on the weather stations. It seems better quality but I question weather the is any performance gain. Attached is a photo and I bought from Hypario fulfilled by Amazon. This one has the authentication seal with silver print on the antenna base. The fit is great on this radio. I'm hoping to see some improvement as I just did a quick 5 minute non-scientific test.

This antenna works very well and is more flexible than the original which is why I bought it. I didn't notice any difference in performance from the original as all the repeaters I use are close to my qth. It comes with two rubber spacers to fill any gap between the base of the antenna and the radio that you may or may not have. My HT had a very small gap barely noticeable but I did use a spacer to make sure the antenna had a good firm seat without over tightening it. I find it to be well worth the money as it suited my specific needs perfectly. I recommend this to anyone that is looking for a replacement antenna with a bit more flex to it..

Good for the price
Works fine. Don't like how it doesn't seat all the way with the Baofeng but I imaging this antenna was meant to be more universal. I can't give an accurate review on any reception gains and losses. It is better than the stock one. It might not be the best. But, it is very good for the price. I hope you like yours.

Get SPPQ antenna that actually increases RF radiation. This one just degraded the RF as measured on a spectrum analyzer.
Dramatically Reduced RF output compared to other antennas. Checked with service monitor, output very low. Original Baofeng antenna is much better, and I ended up with SPPQ antenna that improves RF output.

Solid Uprage Compared to Factory
I purchased this antenna for a Baofeng UV5R. It definitely increased my ability to hear my local 2m repeater and slightly improved my output reach. It also allowed for better reception indoors. The only complaint that I have, which is mostly superficial, is the small gap that occurs between the base of the antenna and the radio itself. The rubber washer provided fills the gap but it unfortunately does not look all that great. An awesome purchase to be able to hear a little more than with the stock antenna on a Baofeng.
