SynopsisSeason 1 Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse, who, in 1946, is mysteriously swept back in time to 1743, and immediately thrown into an unknown world where her life is threatened. When she is forced to marry Jamie, a chivalrous and romantic young Scottish warrior, a passionate affair is ignited that splits Claire's heart between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. Season 2 Season 2 of "Outlander" begins as Claire and Jamie arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared, a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful. Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it. Season 3 The third season of Outlander picks up right after Claire travels through the stones to return to her life in 1948. Now pregnant, she struggles with the fallout of her sudden reappearance and its effect on her marriage to her first husband, Frank. Meanwhile, in the 18th century, Jamie suffers from the aftermath of his doomed last stand at the historic battle of Culloden, as well as the loss of Claire. As the years pass, Jamie and Claire attempt to make a life apart from one another, each haunted by the memory of their lost love. The budding possibility that Claire can return to Jamie in the past breathes new hope into Claire's heart... as well as new doubt. Separated by continents and centuries, Claire and Jamie must find their way back to each other. As always, adversity, mystery and adventure await them on the path to reunion. And the question remains: when they find each other, will they be the same people who parted at the standing stones, all those years ago?OVER 5 HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURESIncluding Deleted & Extended Scenes With Introductions from Ronald D. Know when to stop
Having bought the entire box set of Angel for a trip down memory lane I had learned my lesson. Know when stop watching. With this in mind I bought series 1 - 3 of Outlander to see how it went. I had never seen it or heard much about it. Having discovered how season one ended I knew I didn't want to watch that so my travels ended in episode 11 - where my Claire (because she was a strong and intelligent woman) went home! I thought the concept of the story was brilliant and the romance captured between the two main characters was convincing and heartbreaking - but there is only so much angst sorrow and heartbreak you want to see in the name of entertainment. I felt a bit sad that my story ended so early on - a bit cheated of what could have been so much more - but that's my choice and I don't regret it. Gave my box set to a friend - who loved it - so there you go.

Great viewing
Great series, now just waiting until series 4 released. Dropped one star as DVD's were a little problematic to play, had to insert/remove several times before they would play, one in particular took about 15 min before it was recognised and then only after it was carefully cleaned. Otherwise great.

Attention grabbing
Fantastic storyline, great actors, scenery breathtaking, sets very believable. The time traveling hero/heroine is not a new concept but how it was done is superb, the narrative and and sympathetic acting holds your attention throughout every episode, I would thoroughly recommend this series.
