The coloured beads are encased in a wooden frame and the magnet pen is attached with a short string. The toy works best laying flat as the magnets are not very powerful, which is actually a good thing or you would be picking up too many beads at once with the stick.The colours are fairly muted and at first glance the yellow and white are very similar. Having said that its a nice toy and is a fun way to learn numbers and colours. Just the right size to sit on the lap its a good one to bring with you if your taking a along journey or waiting around anywhere.I like the design of a train pulling small number carriages which is a little different from the norm. Nice one, happy to recommend.
