Bought this when I didn't bring my docking station to a remote location. Plugged in and worked perfectly. Since I don't have a USB-A on the side of the laptop where this is connected, I left it unplugged like others. Since I only do email, Office products, internet browsing, etc. (no gaming) I can't see any difference from being in my home office. The connected plugged into the laptop sure does heat up as well as thru the night it must heartbeat the monitor as it lights up briefly then goes dark even when I ctrl-alt-del Lock so I do cover the monitor at night to alleviate the light shows. I'd buy again for sure!

HDMI to DP cables are a bit tough to find. I only found two on Amazon. This one worked great connecting my laptop to a 1440p monitor. So far seems to be working great and no issues.Note that if you're looking for a cable that goes FROM HDMI TO DP (not the other way around) the cable has to be active/powered since DP has a higher power requirement than HDMI. Hence why this cable and others have the additional USB plug. In spite of what some other reviews have said, it IS required to be plugged in. Even if it works for a short time without the USB plugged in, running an under-powered connection will eventually cause a failure.

Works as advertised. Made the connections, powered up the Mac Mini and had an excellent picture on my 27" monitor. Very well built, seems to be of very good quality material. Recommend for someone needing to go from an HDMI port on your computer to a DP port on the monitor.

It’s exactly what I needed, but it did not work. I needed an active HDMI adapter from the device to DisplayPort for the monitor. It was hard to find this one, but unfortunately, it did not work. I ended up getting a different monitor.

So purchased this cable for my Mac Mini M1. I have two monitors, one with Webcam and one without. Both are Samsung. I'm an online grad student and occasionally have to hold meetings and attend class with the camera. I also have a Surface Laptop Go 2 hooked up to the Microsft Audio dock. I wanted both computers to use both monitors. One computer has (Surface) to have primary on Left with extension on the right, and vice versus for the Mac. I hooked everything up and the Mac would not output through to the left. I was quite puzzled as everything was hooked up just right.I checked the cable, the inputs on the monitors, and switched them all around. Finally Bingo it worked on the other monitor as I found another cable to use for the Audio Dock. So, to satisfy my curiosity, I hooked up the cable to the first input I tried. To my astonishment, it worked. I have absolutely no idea why it didn't the other 3 configurations I attempted didn't. To then only have it work was frustrating as I felt I wasted a lot of time trying to troubleshoot something that didn't need it, but didn't work either.Anyways so far so good and glad it worked out in the end. Set up works and quality’s good. All expected resolutions are available and display well.

I was having a hard time finding a correct HDMI to DP to prove out broadcast equipment. This works every time and I didn't have to use the USB.
