Who knew?
It's amazing to read the personal histories of ten different Jewish (mostly from Eastern Europe) pioneer women in America. Most of them were born in the 1800's in Russia, Poland and Germany. Some were mail order brides. They headed west in buckboard wagons, sometimes with children and babies, to set up housekeeping in towns where they were often the only Jews for miles. The author has researched each woman's history and created a digital quilt for each woman from traditional quilt patterns that are printed on canvas. A real eye-opener.
