Incredible Imagery And New Perspective
Stunning images that gave me a completely new perspective. The photo of the Lunar Module from 17, snapped about two miles away by Gene Cernan, blew my mind. (It's number 70-something I believe) The backdrop of mountains and the landscape in relation to the little spacecraft is eye-opening. People don't realize that there are peaks on the Moon that are taller than any here on Earth. This collection of remastered snapshots is phenomenal, informative, and sometimes breathtaking.

Fantastic book
I really wondered whether I could justify a book of photos of the Moon's surface, which, after all, had been done to death by NASA during the Moon landing years (we all really became a bit blasé about the whole business, forgetting what an astounding technical achievement it was for the time, with the "primitive" computers they had then). I'm glad I bought it - these are really spectacular views of that thing in the sky, of an extraordinary alien landscape. Once again, one realises what an adventure it all was. The science was there to confer a fig-leaf of respectability for what was essentially a capitalist v. communist weight-lifting contest, but it was still the giant leap of which Neil Armstrong spoke. We can dream (and perhaps that's all we ever can do) about other giant leaps in the future. In the meantime, we have this marvellous record of the very first.

This beautiful book is almost beyond words
This beautiful book is almost beyond words. If you are into the moon and/or the Apollo spacecraft missions to the moon, this book will WOW you. Incredible photographs, some fold out pages included. Each photograph as a detailed explanation in the back of the book, with a lot of information about the Apollo moon landings and the moon itself. The only issue with this book is that the edge of the pages are black and fingerprints will be made on the edges unless you are very careful. A small issue with this amazing book. Buy it and enjoy!

amazing photography
This is a beautiful book. It is a series of photos from various Apollo missions, put together in a way to illustrate a voyage from Earth to the moon & back. The photos take up whole pages, or are panorama fold-outs. The photos are crystal clear. I have seen close-ups made from these photos before, but never the originals as are in Full Moon. That's when I realized the resolution of the cameras the Apollo astronauts were using was incredible. My only disappointment was that my copy arrived with the dustjacket all scraped up and dented, and the edges of many of the pages were mangled, so I had to return it. The book still gets 5 stars because that is no fault of the publisher, or Michael Light. I'll buy it again when I can find a good copy at a "bricks & mortar" bookstore; it's worth the extra $$.

What this book is about
"Full Moon" is a selection of about one hundred pictures of different lunar american missions. The selection and the digital improvement has been made by Michael Light, and all has been done from an artistic perspective. If you're looking for a very comprehensive lunar mission day-to-day, interviews with astronauts or a nice reproduction of "that" picture, this is not definitely your book. But if you want, for a moment, walk on the moon, travel outside the Earth and dance with the stars, then buy it.

Smaller format than expected
Great book of black and white photos, the book is smaller than I expected but very high quality, almost no text.

Beware the “New Compact” edition.
After reading the reviews I bought this book as a present to give to a keen young astronomer in the making. However I was very disappointed in the quality of the photos in the book, indistinct, out of focus and blurred images abound, page after page. I was unable to use this book as a present because of the poor quality. I did notice that I have the New Compact edition which may not be a patch on the larger 1999 original though, so beware.

Amazing - awe inspiring book
If you're a moon lover, this book is for you. It might not have any explanation about the photos or any in detail writings about the particular part of the moon or item you're looking at but that doesn't matter. You get lost in the brilliance of the photo. These are things you simply do not see every day - and the pictures that we're all familiar with are shown in a beautiful way, being presented without description and with great picture quality and - as I bought the larger version of the book - in a big enough size to hold your gaze for quite some time.I absolutely love this book and sometimes simply sit for an hour or so flicking through and wondering what it would be like to step foot on that big ball of cheese in the sky. That is what it's made of, right?Definitely recommend this to anyone who gets inspired by anything moon related.

As vivid as can be...
Full Moon by Michael Light is a really nice book to own and is one I find myself going back to and still being fascinated by the images contained within, since I bought it a few years ago.A small coffee-table sized book, the images are presented on jet-black glossy paper with no notes or annotations, so the reader can get the full impact of each photograph as the page is turned. The images are beautifully presented and of a very high quality including several foldouts and panoramas of lunar images stitched together. Produced directly from NASA archives and master negatives, the photographs have a very sharp and vivid look about them. (Detailed information on the 128 pages of photographs can be found in the index along with other notes and explanatory info). It's obvious that a huge amount of care and consideration has gone into selecting the images for this book and some of them have a haunting and almost shocking feel to them, but the overwhelming feeling I had after looking through the book is one of complete respect for the men & women who participated in the space program and moon landings some 40 odd years ago and what they achieved.
