A fantastic basic guide for anyone interested in meditation. Simple and easy to follow book.
I have recently read several of these DK publishing books in the past and found them all to contain valuable and practical information on numerous topics. I just finished this 72 page soft cover (101 Essential Tips everyday meditation by Naomi Ozaniec) book and found it a fascinating and educational read. This text breaks down a subject into101 easy lessons so that the reader is able to easily grasp the material. This volume is organized into ten areas and includes the following: Why meditate? First steps in meditation, symbols and imagery, not thinking at all, meditating with colors, awareness in every moment, outer & inner well-being, meditating on the world, living through meditation and life changes. There is also an index and an acknowledge section. There are also numerous color photographs to illustrate the many points made in this book. If you are seeking a simple and effective essential overview of the subject of meditation you should check out this small but informative book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Start Meditation NOW!
Great little book - saw it on a desk at my sister's house, thumbed through and said "I need one of these!" Easy to apply... you don't have to start at #1 and work your way through to #101. But it's a pretty good path to fall back on.

Helpful Overview of Meditation
101 Essential Tips for Everyday Meditation make Meditation much less mysterious and much more appealing. Through step-by-step guides you can find quick answers to your meditation questions. The main areas of the book:Why Meditate?First Steps in MeditationsSymbols & ImageryNot Thinking at AllMeditating with ColorsAwareness in Every MomentOuter & Inner Well-BeingMeditating on the WorldLiving Through MeditationsLife ChangesI love the colorful photographs brightening up the pages. This guide takes you from the most basic forms of this ancient discipline and then enhances your practice through more advanced techniques, like focusing on an ethereal blue butterfly in your mind or visualizing calming ocean waves breaking on a shore. I had never really thought about meditating with colors, but have visualized colors during a Chakra segment in a Yoga workout and it really does help you relax. There are a few highly creative ways to relax and many of them focus on your inner world and how you can create a peaceful retreat inside your own mind, anyplace, anytime. A short discussion about living in the moment, diet changes and lifestyle choices completes this tiny book of bite-size pointers.~The Rebecca Review

A great beginners guide.
This meditation guide is divided into small chapters. Some of these include: First Steps, Symbols & Imagery, Colors, Awareness, Meditating on the World, and Life Changes. The information throughout is simple yet informative. It explains who, where, what, how, why, how long, of meditation. It's a short book so quick to work your way through it. It has nice full color glossy pages, helpful for meditating on images or colors. I like to keep this copy as a basic beginning reference.

A great beginners book
This book is a great for those who are new to meditation and want to start immediately. After a few minutes of reading this book, the reader can begin to meditate. The book first explains the reasons why people meditate and gives some tips to get the most out of meditation ( i.e. keep a journal ). The book then explains how to meditate by using correct posture and breathing techniques. The next few sections then gives the reader ideas on what to focus on or what to think about when meditating such as symbols and imagery. There is also a section on the importance of colors and how different colors can invoke emotions. The rest of book then gives tips on how meditation can affect your life by producing change and reduce stress. Overall, this book is incredibly valuable and there is no reason not to get it considering its price. Thanks to this book, I meditate at least 5 minutes a day when I wake up. It also provides me with ideas on what I can meditate on.

Some good ideas but missing.....
As a relative beginner in the world of meditation I found some interesting techniques in this book. However, it lacked specific examples or instructions as to how to impliment the techniques. The book also has a pretty useless section discussing colors and what they say about you. Overall though for the price I think this is a decent book to complement other materials and personal instruction.

Excellent. Clearly explained and easy to follow in encouragingly small chunks which build up to a satisfying whole. I have made progress in a way I can see and understand.
