First Pieces for Classical Guitar: Master twenty beautiful classical guitar studies (Learn how to play classical guitar)

Easy, But Pleasant Pieces
This is a great book for either complete beginners taking up classical guitar or folks like me who have played for quite a while but are relatively new to the classical style. If the former, use it as a companion to lessons and/or a good method book. Most pieces will be within your reach before too long. If the latter, and you're familiar with music notation or tab, you can probably more-or-less sight-read most of these and get your favorites up to speed pretty quickly. And it will introduce you to some of the bedrock composers for guitar like Sor, Carulli, Carcassi, Giuliani and Tarrega.

Apt title
These pieces are what the book says, beginner classical pieces. Not just scales or exercises, but pretty melodies, not too long or difficult. I've been playing guitar (mostly jazz) for many years, so I don't know how hard these would be for someone who has never played at all, but they are perfect for me, wanting to start developing some classical ability. The audio files really help as well. Highly recommended.

An excellent book for classical! One minor thing, though...
Right out the gate, this book is fantastic. I'm by no means an advanced-level guitarist, and to at least have the chops to read tablature made it possible to play the first piece by Sor in the book. Beautiful, and it's cool to have some exposure to some composers I wasn't familiar with.My one issue with the book - and this is enough where improving it would garner five stars - is that I wish the book were spiral bound. The binding on the book is such that it is difficult to keep open without really folding it down and "working" the book to lay flat. Yes, that might increase the cost of production, but it'd be absolutely worth it. Aside from that, I recommend it greatly for anyone looking to branch out from their usual repertoire.

I recommend this user-friendly tutorial.
Twenty nice pieces for classical guitar in progressive sequence, from quite easy to more difficult. I do not read music and the tablatures have been very helpful. I would definitely recommend this book.

Great beginner book for any new classical guitar player
it is a great book for new classical guitar players like myself. I have played electric and acoustic guitars for many years. Many times I have tried to learn classical guitar style but had to give up.I don't read music too well. Can only handle key of C, F and G and nothing beyond that. The tab in this book is a great saver. Like most of guitar players, I learn new songs by ear. The recording came with the book is a big help. Hope I can play through all tunes this time.

Nice Collection
I was looking for a collection of classical pieces to add a bit of variety to my usual practice regiment and this book did the trick. The pieces are not too advanced but they provide a nice workout for both hands . The tabs are good if your reading chops are not quite up to speed.

for a beginner in both music and guitar
I wish these books would just say what degree of both musician and guitarist you are. I am a 20 year 2 degree in music pianist, but just learning guitar. I don't need a book to explain a damn scale or arpeggio, I need some real technical stuff about how to hold my body and make it sound good on the guitar. This book didn't offer much of that.

Music Notation and Tablature included
I've been playing guitar for over 30 years, mostly classic rock. I have a good ear so I've neglected learning how to read music. Also, I suck at fingerpicking. I retired recently and decided to get back to learning the fundamentals. The inclusion of downloadable Audio Examples and Tablature below the Traditional Notation makes this a great place to start learning how to read music. Each song also has a very useful introduction with helpful tips to help you learn.I bought the Kindle version which was a dumb move on my part because I have the smallest Kindle there is and it's hard to see enough of each page at a time. I'm sure it would likely be fine on a full-size Kindle. Anyway, I found this book useful enough that I returned the Kindle version and bought the paperback. I recommend this book highly and strongly suggest you get the paperback version.I also recommend other books in this series which I bought along with this one. Reviews to follow.

Understandable, great audio assistance, challenging (for me) pieces but doable
3 months of attempting to learn classical guitar (having played steel string for a couple of years) my tutor has pegged me at grade 2 so I’m still learning to read Standard Notation as well. This book allows me to learn quite challenging pieces (for me) through tab and cross check with scoresheet & audio. Also, the pieces themselves are enjoyable to listen to.Thoroughly recommend.
