Mammoth Russian Sunflower - 30 Seeds, 7 Grams

I was looking for the huge Russian sunflowers that I could have my granddaughter plant and we can watch them grow together. They are as large as a dinner plate. She so enjoyed planting them and now we are just watching. Very good quality seeds and I am sure she will have learned a great deal about horticulture and I paid so very little for such a great experience. Thank you PowerGrow and BGS Supplies!

This is a horrendous company, a terrible buy. I ordered 10 types of seeds on Feb. 14, on march 5 they wrote “I'm afraid your package has lost on the way. China Post does have a 1.5% lost-in-post rate which is very frustrating and truly out of our control.” and a generic “festivals are coming,so the traffic is too busy ,besides,the bad weather also has bad effect on transportation “. so…they re-ordered my seeds so I thought. It turns out this is a CHINA COMPANY- the seed are coming from CHINA! They hide that. Do not by your seeds from CHINA!, I ordered all new seeds from a U.S.A. company here on Amazon called Seeds & Things, they came in less than a week, I have planted, and some are already growing.. Buy from them. So I thought, well ill use the seed from CHINA next year…NOPE! After I e-mailed sixcity again on where is my seeds are, Come April 1st ,I got the same generic e-mail ”I'm afraid your package has lost on the way. So far the seeds are growing. I used the scratch the seed, place on a paper towel and put in a baggie method to start the growth. I then transferred to a pot. They are now in the ground. so far I have used 15 seeds and only 1 did not sprout.

Another product that grew well for us - literally plate size sunflowers - covered in bees once they flowered - helping our overall garden areas. So heavy - they easily/readily fall over without support - I often plant at one end of my squash/viney type of plants - when they dip over - the shade from their leaves, flower heads - help provide shady areas for my pumpkins, squash, etc. This one grew up to the second story of our house - seriously - and easily seen from second story windows. Made the kids laugh.

I'm good with planting and growing seeds and plants. I planted the seeds in a fenced area where they couldn't be harmed but they didn't grow

Went to several sites explaining what to do to germinate sunflower seeds. Most said soak in warm water for at least 25-30 minutes and discard any that remained floating. In my case ALL of them remained floating.I went ahead and planted them as per instructions on those sites so only time will tell if they are good or not. Hope so.***Update***5/26/2023 two have sprouted. all planted in a same way. that should tell ya someting.
