Product Description The film is about the difficult situation in which the Pakistanis in particular and the Muslims in general are caught up since 9/11. There is a war going on between the Fundamentalists and the Liberal Muslims. This situation is creating a drift not only between the Western world and the Muslims, but also within the Muslims. The educated and modern Muslims are in a difficult situation because of their approach towards life and their western attire. They are criticized and harassed by the fundamentalists and on the other hand the Western world sees them as potential suspects of terrorism just because of their Muslim names. About the Actor Naseeruddin Shah was born on 20th July 1950 in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, India.1975 to 1984 Naseeruddin Shah acted in many movies with Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil like Nishant (1975), Manthan (1976), Bhumika (1977) and Aakrosh (1980). In 1981, he started appeared in a more commercial movie Umrao Jaan.

Khuda Kay Liye
The story is very practical. The acting of Naseeruddin Shah is superb. I wholeheartedly agree that the misinterpretations of the great religion of Islam, by uneducated or half educated Mollas, has led to the creation of a CORRUPTED segment of Muslims. The Muslims are being taught baseless Hadith by those half educated and half witted Mollas, and, NOT the real BOOK, THE QURAN. I also believe that it should be dubbed in most of the languages spoken in Muslim countries, and, widely distributed. It should be a "must-see" movie for those Muslims who claim to be Muslims but are really not. I specially like the comment about so many Hajis, who are liars, going around the market looking for Halal Meat with haram monies in there pockets!!!

You need to see this film.....
In the 9/11 era, we trashed a lot of liberties and showed our ignorance. But, we don't have a monopoly on ignorance as this film shows from several points of view. The taliban trash the music and two musician brothers go separate ways - one to the extreme radical fundamentalist point of view, and the other to America to grow and learn, but he quickly gets sucked into the hysteria. The story is portrayed in a very modern way and the sound track is one of the best I've heard. You need to see this film. Bill B

Sent broken DVD disc.
Thanks a whole bunch for sending me a cracked disc. That was really helpful considering that I needed this on a deadline as it was for a school assignment. Thanks for wasting my time and not being reliable.

very popular in pakistan
this was a very popular film in pakistan and now it is available in this dvd which has a choice of subtitles in english/french/german/spanish/italian/ or portugese. it is not a very sophisticated work but it has its moments. the cinematography is far superior to the screenplay and the directing (the actors were at a disadvantage). with a little more thought and a better director, it could have been made an international bestseller. the only extra included is a musical video.

The film is deep, rough, strong at times, many times. Acted fairly well, it tries to make sense or at least describe a lot of contradictions in the Pakistani society.

a gripping drama located around the 9/11 events, focuses on how lives were affected with the tragedy of that day. its a visionary film that explores the roots of extremism, community breakdowns and religion mindsets. set in pakistan,uk and us, its a multi layerd story telling that is very intense and gripping at times. the performaces are great to mediocre...SHAAN, NASEERUDIN SHA and FAWAD are OUTSTANDING!. iman ali and the supporting cast is at average...overall its a outstanding film from pakistan! not to be confused with poor razmataz from bollywood

must watch esp if you are working with young people
this film was reviewed by a youth organisation to having excellent materials for debating current issues affecting young peoples issues around identity and islam and the repercussions of 9/11.the film was fantastic from the outset.it dealt with misconpetions around islam - particularly music and western dress. i would recommend this film for use with young people to spark off interesting debatesexcellent movie
