Look No Further for Comprehensive Scale Technique
I find it interesting that there are two camps for studying scales . . . the Galamian folks vs the Carl Flesch folks. The two do not intersect and each camp has issues with the other camp. It all depends on the technique that your teacher wants you to develop, so chances are great that your teacher was in the same camp as the scales that they assign to you. I love Galamian.

Great Resource for Sight Reading
Recommended by my daughter's violin teacher, she's been using this book with excellent results for some time. Unless you're very knowledgeable, you'll need to use this book as a teaching tool with a professional instructor or you'll just be running through technique without fully mastering them.

(These drills honed the skills of the best violinists alive today
Galamian. period. (These drills honed the skills of the best violinists alive today.) Well set on the page. A bit hard to decipher without a teacher explaining some of the directions...

Pretty Good-layout a little confusing.
The layout of the book is sometimes hard to navigate because you have to search for the keys of the scales.

Expensive
At USD44 I would have expected better paper, better binding, and a hard cover. Overpriced.Think of your money as a contribution towards the intellectual contribution of the Galamian and Neumann team.
