The media could not be loaded.  This 'Grinning Gargoyle - Lifesize Spartan Helmet Replica with Stand- King Leonidas' is simply stunning.The construction is resin and the mould it came from gives some excellent detail from metal hammer marks to sword damage. The general finish and colour is spectacular.The worst part about it is the slightly weak box it arrives in and the polystyrene protection within . One other tiny niggle is that it doesn't sit perfectly straight on its pole mount if mounted in the hole designed for the pole. However I am willing to admit this may be intentional - but for me I just sit it outside the hole and balance it on a cloth on the top of the pole to sit it straight.The helmet itself is a lifesize replica, I know this because I tried it on - it's not designed to be worn, however my large head fits inside the helmet though it is not a comfortable fit at all. It does look pretty awesome looking in a mirror though.As a piece sitting under a light source it is amazing, I may see what it looks like with a light source place inside the helmet.At a price of £49.99 this is amazing value for money - I cannot recommend these guys highly enough.

Wow! What a fabulous centrepiece! Judging by the weight of this, I thought it was made of metal but it's actually resin. It certainly looks like metal and has loads of detail and is hand painted perfectly in bronze. It looks real.The helmet arrived in a huge box, well packed with thick polystyrene and there's no assembly needed. It's merely a case of lifting out the stand and placing the helmet on it (there's a part inside the helmet for the stand to go on) and it's secure and doesn't wobble.It's a life-sized Spartan helmet and is just under 50 cm tall (including the stand) x 26.5 wide x 23 deep.The stand is black and stable, but looks a bit strange as there is a seam across part of it, and it's not particularly smooth, but perhaps it's supposed to be like that to make it look weathered. I'm not sure, but the helmet is perfect.It says it's frost and water resistant, but I can't see that you would put this outside. Maybe you can, but it seems very much like this should be for indoor display only.It certainly looks great on the coffee table in the lounge and a real talking point. Everyone who has seen it so far has commented on it.This is perfect for any history buff or for anyone who appreciates something a bit different.Very well made, realistic and impressive. Recommended.
