Surprisingly good at tearing through wood for first cuts, but does need a refining process for quality work. Great value and a pleasing addition to my arsenal of woodworking tools

Review of Pomsare Angle Grinder Wood Carving Disc 125mm x 4,Occasionally there are items that come out of China that amaze and these wood carving discs are they, not only a brilliant idea and good design but well made also.This is a set of four wood carving 125mm diameter discs to suit a 125mm grinder with an M14 or 22.25mm centre fixing, they are actually advertised for a 110mm grinder for one handed use, however to achieve fitting one would have to remove the disc guard, to use one would need strong wrists and thick gloves as these discs can be formidable at wood chip removal.My preferred method is to clamp the wood and use a 125mm grinder with two hands as these discs can spin up to 12200rpm, the large and small curve discs made of 2mm thick steel plate, the curve shape providing extra strength, whilst the flat and bevel discs made of 3mm thick steel plate.The teeth have all been cut into the steel plate and are not separate or an addition so are extremely strong showing very little wear even after intensive use.The four discs provided are, flat for course work such as tree bark removal or initial carving, the bevel and small curve for medium shaping and the large curve which looks formidable with hundreds of teeth is actually for fine work and even capable of producing a semi polished surface to wood.The only problem found is that the chipped wood has to be removed from the discs regularly especially when used with soft wood, this as blocked teeth degrades the wood removal performance, a simple wire brush efficient at this removal process.So as not to repeat the advertising, one will merely say, these discs work as advertised and are very efficient and prolific at achieving the process of wood removal, they are substantial in construction and so far show very little signs of wear, if maintained and used properly these discs could achieve a long and useful life.

The product is great though they have a lot of pull when in use. So be be careful as they ripped through the inside gears of my cheap angle grinder when used on hardwood.

These are very sturdy items. Each has a bore of 22.23 mm, a diameter of 125mm and a maximum speed of 12200 rpm. There are four shapes: large curve, small curve , flat and bevel. The three smaller discs are CE marked and have pictorial safety instructions. The large disc has no markings at all. The discs are described as carbon steel.As well as describing these as 125mm discs, the description says that the wood carving disc is designed to be used with most standard M14 angle grinders with 22.23mm arbor. This category included my angle grinder. The advertisement also says “unparalleled versatility with our Wood Grinding Discs 115mm for Angle Grinders.” The one I have currently is a 115mm grinder.I had a snag here . The disc will fit my angle grinder, no problem, apart from the fact that I would have to operate it with the safety guard removed, which I didn’t fancy doing, gloves or no gloves, with this style of disc. I am the sort of person who grazes his knuckles on a cheese grater, never mind one of these. I have attached a picture of the unguarded disc on the angle grinder.The safety instructions on the box are quite explicit “ To avoid injuries, please wear protective goggles , heavy duty work gloves, and ear muffs during use.” which is all very sensible. I could not help but noticing in the video included in the advertisement a guy using these discs in an angle grinder. At one stage in the video he is grinding freehand i.e. holding the workpiece in one hand and using the angle grinder one handed in the other hand. Rather him than me!I was sorry not to be able to test these discs directly. They look incredibly strong and, if the video is anything to go by, they are extremely effective. I am considering buying a new angle grinder the next size up (125mm not the 115 mm one that I currently own) just so that I can use these discs.If you are looking to buy some discs like this, these look really good and strong. Just make sure you have an angle grinder big enough for them ( if you value your fingers).

Tried these out using my Milwaukee grinder and they worked just fine. The different discs allow you to cut and carve in different ways and get different results. They don't produce a smooth finish - you'll need to do plenty of sanding to get a good finish - but they cut away wood a lot faster they you ever could with sand paper.

These are OK , not as sharp as others I have. The teeth tend to clog up, have to stop and clear with a wire brush. I suspect these will blunt quite quick if I continue to use the on oak.

C'est parfait pour mes sculptures bois, ça grignote bien et les différentes formes de ces disques permettent à peu prés tout, par contre, au bout d'un certain temps d'utilisation, ils s'usent (moins de mordant)
