Cracking little scanner.
This is not a comprehensive review but just a few pointers for anyone considering buying the 370CLT, based on my 25 years experience.Using an old much loved Realistic Pro-2006 as my yardstick, this is a good little base station radio. Yes, it doesn't cover military airband but then that is the buyers' choice. However it does everything else very well. The key pad entry is a joy (compared to the UBC 355CLT it's an absolute blessing!) and I also like the naming facility, as my memory for 250 frequencies is not what it was. The sensitivity is right up to par, the squelch is crisp and needs care, the scan speed is fast, the lock-out and primary facilities both work as required and the display is excellent - both with or without backlight. There are extra goodies such as a clock, an alarm and FM radio facility, which are all very nice at the price.I also enjoyed the pre-programmed scanning facility but for me the big surprise was the crystal clear speaker sound and its great volume! No need for any extension speakers with this baby.I read in some reviews that the box proves difficult for newbies to master. While that may be true the instructions are neither worse nor better than most and any new radio will bring its own learning curve - even for the most experienced. The fact is that serious scanning needs some initial head scratching, research, advice, googling and a lot of time is spent on trial and error - regardless of which radio you choose. This is not an on/off DAB radio. But if you're thinking about getting into scanning I would highly recommend this box - it's not over-complicated, in fact simpler than many. NB Unless you live in a lighthouse you will need a proper aerial - preferably rooftop but failing that, desktop discone type as mentioned in other reviews. For any oldies like me browsing for a change of box and something different, I think you would enjoy this one - it's very user friendly and I've grown to like mine very quickly. Very fair price as well. Thanks to Amazon for a good offer on a busted box model and the usual excellent service.

Great reception and sound quality
The media could not be loaded. I live in Cornwall and like to listen to the marine band ie falmouth coast guard as my brother is in RNLI, I purchased this one to see how good it was and was very surprised at the quality of reception and sound, as I have a whistler TRX1 which was nearly £500 and I wish I had purchased Uniden first as the whistler is probably OK if you live in America, but poor for UK use.

Useful scanner for non-portable base operation
Those considering buying one of these scanners will probably already have digested the technical specs . Basically however this is a "plug & play" scanner. It's not complicated - but it's well worth reading the manual before starting to use it.You can plug it in (to the mains) , plug in the modest telescopic aerial supplied with it, switch it on and can immedately start scanning the group or groups of frequencies you need to listen to without the tedious business of painstakingly entering them all in by hand (although you CAN do that if you want to).If you switch off or lose mains power the scanner won't lose information you have keyed in probided you have installed batteries . They will provide the power to retain the memory for a time (I'm not sure for quite how long) if mains power is lost. The scanner will pick up aviation and marine transmissions and a wide range of other networks as well. An external aerial can be connected for greater rangeUsing the Bearcat is straightforward once you have grasped the Uniden logic of the way it works. One quibble is that 5 buttons immediately below the display screen have dual functions, and those functions are identified in white and others in a rather hard-to-read dark red colour (see photo).

Excellent receiver.
Perfect base scanner, I already had a Bearcat handheld which is also very good. Purchased computer software direct from Butel, 300 channels loaded up quickly, but very easy to programme without. Very pleased with purchase!
