Illustrated Norse Myths (Illustrated Stories)

They sure like to fight alot ....
If you want to teach your kid about the back stories of your favorite Avengers characters - Thor and Loki - then this book's for you! This book does a nice job in narrating some of the more famous stories of the Norse gods and their adversaries. There is some sense that they engage in trouble and fights for no particular reason other than getting a rise out of their enemies. You be the judge though. Compared to Usborne's Greek Myths, the Norse Myths book does not have as many illustrations. We're big fans of the Greek Myths book in my house. The Norse Myths is a wonderful addition.

Some great stories, some too serious
The stories in the middle are pretty good (all about Loki, Thor, and Giants), but the beginning and the end stories are unusually violent for little kids, and a bit too serious compared with the tone of the rest of it. I'd recommend skipping the first and last chapters.

Perfect for family story time!
Beautiful pictures and the stories have a nice, fluid feel. We love gathering as a family to read these at night.

We loved this book and the stories!
There are very few Norse Myth books for kids. This one is great. Good size text, and my son ( 9 yrs old) loves learning these stories about his heritage. Highly recommend!

Cool stories!
I am a huge marvel nerd and when I saw a book that had storied about Thor and the gods of Asgard I knew I had to get it. I was not disappointed at all! The myths are super cool and I found myself reading them all the time. Although the myths don’t really relate the the MCU I still love them.

Couldn't put it down
I gave this to my 7-year-old son right before I turned the TV to the Olympics. His excitement about the Olympics was totally forgotten as he settled in to read looking up only occasionally. He report that the book is really great with lots of fighting stories.

Really good book well made
Well told but wish there were better description of what Thor, Loki and Odin look like.

Very few illustrations - long pages of text
Was a bit disappointed with this. I also have the Greek myths and Fairy Stories versions, both of which have illustrations on each page. This only has 1 tiny illustration every 4 pages or so.The storytelling is fine, but considering it’s an ‘illustrated’ book they could have done so much more. My son kept asking me to show him examples of the things in the stories - it was a bit heartbreaking when I couldn’t.

Absolutely fantastic norse mythology for kids.
Read this repeatedly to my 6 year old daughter for bedtime stories. She loves it almost as much as the Greek myths book by Usborne. I like how the book is structured, taking you from the creation of the world through the tales of the gods to the ending of the world - or the prophesying of it by Odin, at least. Within the overall structure there are sections with three stories in each. The individual stories are an ideal length for children about 5-9 I would say (and for grown-ups reading them). The illustrations are generally excellent. One to read over and over.

Fantastic book
Highly recommended, bought this for my little sister as an introduction to mythologies, absolutely fantastic book, beautifully bound, nice pictures with a good ratio of pics to text, not overloaded with giant pictures like other books i was looking at, so still provides a good read even for myself when i read it to her, some details of the stories are slightly changed to suit a younger audience but the core is still the same.

Excellent collection of imaginative myths.
A very well presented book, with colourful pictures and readily accessible text for my young grandchildren. Similar in quality to the companion book of Greek Myths, which is a firm favourite with them. Looking forward to reading it to them on Christmas Day!!

Fantastic book!
I got this for my son and ended up reading it myself. It's a great book with fantastic illustrations and re-tells lesser known Norse myths, makes a change from the over-done Greek ones!
