Excellent product
A good fit in a scuttled ceiling

For new construction or remodeling only, drywall must be open. Good light quality, brightness.
This is a Halo ceiling mount LED fixture with integrated LED lamp and separate electronics package, made for new construction or when remodeling and the drywall is torn open. Do you have an existing Halo (or other brand) can lamp fixtures in your ceiling? You do? These have nothing to do with your old can fixture, they will just get in the way, this is for new construction or if you want to bust into your old ceiling drywall or plaster. If you have an old can fixture in your ceiling, you needed it because you wanted to screw in those old incandescent or halogen light bulbs. LED lights don't need as deep an insertion into your ceiling, and this fixture isn't designed to update your old can to modern LED technology (Halo makes other products to do help you modernize your old can ceiling fixtures, and they are very good, they are available here at Amazon, but they are not discussed here). Again, if you have a ceiling without drywall or plaster and you can can see the joists, or are willing to cut a hole in your finished ceiling, this fixture is an option for you.Even though this fixture isn't as deep as the old style can fixtures, it still lives in your ceiling and does take up room. Before doing anything permanent (except, or course, cutting a hole in your ceiling), fit this fixture in place to make sure you have made enough room for it. Remember, you will need to seat the electronics box and the tethered LED illuminating portion. You have two choices for produced light intensity: bright, and brighter. The brighter setting seems like what I was getting from halogen lamps. These LED lights use a lot less energy yet they are still bright. You also can choose light "color" to simulate the kind of lighting technology that you prefer. In the olden days light was produced by heating something to such a high temperature that it incandesced. Lower temperatures created a red to orange light, higher temperatures a bluish light, and temperatures in between made some color between these. Since the color of produced light used to be associated with filament temperature, the produced light's color was called "color temperature". You can set color temperature with a switch on the electronics box. If you want light to look like it is coming from a halogen bulb, choose the 3000K setting. This setting actually produces light a little whiter than true halogen, which is an improvement over the original. The LED package swivels nearly full circle. I recommend you spin it until it's in the center of its rotation. Then secure the LED package in place pointing approximately where you want to shine it, and twist and tip the gimbaled light to get it to point exactly where you want. You end up with a ceiling light that works very nicely, giving even illumination and no hotspot. The color temperature choices are distinct and very functional. The light produced has a good color spectrum - blues look blue, reds look red, greens like fine, too. And you can point this light where you think it will do the most good (or not cause glare to people in the room). An issue this LED lighting has that's common to other LED light fixtures is the momentary delay before light is produced. You'll get used to this and won't notice it in no time at all.New construction? Remodeling? It's in your best interests to consider this lamp fixture since it's well made, does a good job, comes from a trustworthy manufacturer, and saves energy. You're welcome.

A1 Quality with Perfect Fitment and Operation = A1 Satisfaction ...
Decided on a change-out from a different branded 6-inch gimbal-type flush mounted disc light that differed completely from this one once found. The prior light didn't have the added features of this one. First off the adjustable gimbal had been limited to a swing in either direction while this has a full swing 360 meaning it canb centered to any object to highlight anything chosen in a room instead of exactly how n' where the lgiht is mounted. This product arrived in good time securely boxed with everything needed - the light and it's work box along with detailed instructions with a cutout template if needed. This ones gimbal section (lens) is also smaller in diameter than my original and sealed much better that helps in illumination n' appearance and that tighter better seal also makes for easier cleaning too. This one was an exact fit in an approx 6-inch hole without issue and covers it very well since its overall dimension is at 7 1/4". This light has an overall depth of 4" and carries some considerable weight to it and the pair of side clips for mounting are beefed up to full length which provides ample security when finish mounting. The light ring also has a nice pre-installed felt seal on its underside. The seperate workbox is of ample size at 5" by 3" with an inch and a half depth to accomodate all wiring easily and has 3 side knockouts for a variety of wiring situations. The lights wiring already in the workbox comes with pre-installed 'waco' connectors which makes for a simple push-in wire up n' done n' close the lid setup with a pre-installed side bracket for ez mounting to nearest celing joist. A wired pigtail of approx 7" makes the final connection to the lights approx 10" pigtail by way of simple screw-on and push-lock end connectors. The overall length of both ends up to nearly a foot n' a half of leeway to where the main circuit coming in needs to b in the ceiling so the light doesn't hafta b right where a live workbox is. The lights adjustable lighting features are on the sides of the workbox - small slide switch with 5 different color shade settings (2700-5000k) of variable white light for personal ambiance along with a seperate 'D2W' position when used with a dimmer switch. Plus a 2-position lumen (600 or 975k) slide switch for an additional choice of brighter/dimmer energy savings. I already had the circuit set up using a wall switch dimmer and this one operated this light with zero issues - 'Dewinwils' brand. I have approx '8' of their dimmers in use (most r 3-ways) - none have been an issue with a variety of brands lights for months of usage and they operate this light with ease - zero flicker at any settings. This lights being used to focus on a large 3-bay 2-tiered garden window in my dining room and I'll tell ya right now the difference from the old to this new gimbal is unreal - the lighting choices to obtain just the right overall ambiance and direction to highlight all the plants and help in keepin' em all happy was well worth 'the approx 30 minutes' for the changeout to complete ! With that said and zero issues - very satisfied with this product in every aspect - good job 'Cooper Industries' ... :) 👍

You can aim it to that shadowed spot.
I expect the unit sent to me had been returned to Amazon and reshipped to me as there were a couple of faint scuff marks, and there was a chip out of the paint on the inner edge of the ring. Easily fixed with a bit of artist's paint, no big deal. This unit is the solution to a somewhat dim spot in our kitchen counter by the cook top. When we replaced the track lighting with ceiling cans some years ago, a spot was left on one end, next to a free standing hood. We'd thought the hood light would be enough (all installed in the same remodel), but even with a newer & brighter bulb in the hood, it could use some help. The gimbal feature allows us to mount the light a bit off to the side away from the hood, and still be aimed at the right spot.I'd have rather they had the wiring clips shipped separately instead of already installed on the wires (unless this was a used unit and that was done by the prior customer). It makes it harder to field test before installation if you have test wires that would stick into the clips, not come out and have to be cut off. I was careful and got it done with small wires hand held.We settled on the 3000K color setting. It brought out the red colors more without the blues and greens suffering. The illuminated part of the light is smaller than our other 6" LED can lights because of the gimbal hardware, but that is OK. It is also not quite as bright as the others are 1200 lumens. Still it does the job, and the gimbal part is the star of the show.
