Very Difficult to Install
We ordered this particular fabric because we liked the pattern. We were concerned since there was only one other product review but we took the chance and ordered it.The problem with this product is that the channel or pocket for the polycord that goes into the fabric to attach the fabric to the awning tube is not sewn into the fabric for the main awning attachment like on other fabric replacements. There is a pocket pre-sewn in the fabric for the valance end and one for the end attaches to the mounting rail but not for the main awining channel that holds the awning to the awning tube. You have to insert the polycord into the pre-sewn channels for the valance and the mounting rail, which isn't too bad, then insert the awning into the valance channel. They provide you with a plastic spreader (like you would use to spread bondo or putty) to use as a tool to work the fabric down into the main attachment channel in the awning tube that holds the fabric in place. Once you work the fabric in place then you have to insert the third polycord into that channel from the end of the tube where you removed the tension spring and push it all the way through until it's completely installed. That is quite the challenge. It ended up taking three people and lots of silicone spray. Getting the polycord started and past the seam on the awning fabric is near impossible. It keeps hanging on the seam. Once we were finally able to get past that point then you have to push in the cord into the tube channel from one end while another person holds the other end of the tube to stabilize it and counter the force of the insertion. A third person is working to make sure the fabric is fully inserted into the awning tube channel with the special bondo spreader. The further you insert the poly cord the harder it is to push in until it finally broke about two-thirds of the way inserted. I was very frustrated. I ended up removing the end cap at the other end and we worked and worked to insert the remainder of the poly cord from the other end until we were able to finally get it completely inserted. It was a very difficult process. The other thing I don't like about this fabric is that the valance end, the part that hangs down when rolled out, is just cut straight across and has no finished edge or seam. The old one had a finished seamed edge and was scalloped. Not sure how this will look over time but we shall see.Once installed it does look good. The fabric does appear to be durable. I don't like to write negative reviews, but this one deserves it...
