Brass Music
Did not know EMPIRE BRASS until i came across a track from this cd on a TAG MCLAREN test disc, very impressive playing and recording. Then purchased the cd and found a good selection of music from the period 138 BC to 1611 AD.This is an unusual period for brass music and is very enjoyable to hear this kind of music. Superb playing and HI FI demonstration class recording. The original track i heard was HOPPER DANCE great fun!

Brilliant Passage
This is not what it might first appear when you read the track listing. Yes it's modal music, but the arrangements make it just so much more. I've never heard brass played and recorded quite like this: serene reverb-drenched tones and harmonies; tasteful percussion; those countertenor vocals. This is atmospheric stuff and it takes you to another realm. Music for the modern medieval.

Atmospheric
This disc is difficult to classify; but as I am very enthusiastic about it ( and all their other work) I shall say that if you like Early Music, Jan Gabarek and/or John Taverner, you will probably like this too
