Didn't bother the Oppossum Much
The quality of the DE-BIRD Defender Spikes is fairly good. Out of five boxes, we noticed that about 5 spike pads had defects like one or two spikes incompletely formed. The product is heavy duty and, with an electric drill/screwdriver, simple to install. The spikes have 1/2 and 3/4 inch cone-shaped spikes. They are in attached, 3 piece segments with 12 holes that make the product easy to attach using for nails or screws. The segments can be snapped apart where shorter sections of spikes are needed. The tips might be described as "prickly" rather than sharp. I don't think that they could injure either an animal or a human intruder. To completely cover our 3 3/4 inch wide fence top required using a double row of strips. Our garden had been receiving almost nightly visits from an Opossum. The beast had been eating strawberries and other fruit in our backyard. Our initial installation of the spikes was only on the top of the fence that the opossum had been using as its path to the garden. That failed to discourage the creature. However, I then covered the entire fence top all around our back yard. Apparently unable to figure out how to circumvent the spikes, we've not seen evidence of visits from our nocturnal marsupial for almost a month now.Success!!!

Didn’t stop bird, squirrel or raccoon.
I put a couple on the railing to keep the raccoons and squirrels from my bird feeders. First the birds didn’t care at all the strips were there, they walk over them. The squirrel didn’t even seem to notice as he walked across. The raccoon stepped on them the first day and went away but then next several days he just walked over them. So I don’t know what animals these are supposed to stop, but them don’t work. Don’t recommend.

Yup
I bought this because my youngest cat has developed a habit of dive bombing onto my face or stomach off the headboard during his 3am zoomies and around the time he demands food. Thanks to his lack of claw control I always wore new wounds to the next day.So far these have kept him off the headboard, with no doubt he has tried though, never stepping more than once or twice before he abandons his mission. He has even attempted to lie down on them 😹.The spikes are sharp enough to discourage the behavior, but not sharp enough to harm him underneath his own weight.Granted I did harm myself by falling and gripping my headboard, please use with caution. They were easy to secure with Zip ties as they did not come with any double sided tape or anything else.

Sharp and painful - They would work for regular applications like on the top of a wooden fence frame.
I do believe they would work for regular applications like on the top of a fence and flat surfaces. They do not work for my purposes - I was going to fasten them together side by side or stick them down with double sided tape on top of my cat litter box to stop my cat from jumping on the litter box and peeing ( out of jealousy for another cat). I just couldn't get them to stay on top of the box - either fastened down or stuck down. These strips are narrow about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2" wide and not easy to handle. The little points are sharp enough to deter cats from fence tops or flat surfaces. There are a lot of them in the package. I would never put them where the cat could not see them and would jump on top of them - as I believe they are dangerous and harmful to the cat. I saw one reviewer had put them on the top of her kitchen cabinets - and thought that was great. After working with these, I wouldn't do that to my cats because once the cat landed, it would cut and hurt the cat and the cat would have no where to go to get away from the painful spikes. I think they work where the cat could reach up and "try them" as they will find them sharp and will not jump up on them. I do think they would work for regular applications and even for birds, etc trying to build nests on your patio covers/structure.

Determined squirrel....
I've bought one of these packs in the last couple months. It seemed to work fine for awhile. At least it kept the speedsters from running the fence. Unfortunately with the fence meeting the house in two locations and it being double wide on top. I could only get about five feet from the roof at each location. Sat outside drinking my coffee one Sunday morning and watch a big o' fat squirrel, running the fence line and stopping short of the spikes. My first thought, was that's right sucka, no more roof for you. And before the thought was complete it leaped over the final five feet, from a standstill - past a life-size fake owl - and onto the roof. CRAP! So I buy another pack to double the distance. Well, this freakin' squirrel was definitely determined. Last weekend, he's back, running the fence line. Stops short of the spikes, then tip-toes his way thru and onto the roof. Guess I'm gonna have to go with the longer metal spikes...

These do nothing!, but good customer service.
I Purchased these to try and stop robins from nesting under my deck. I liked that they were brown, so they would blend in and not be an eyesore. They are completely ineffective, probably because the spikes are not tall enough… The robins actually build their nests right on top of these, so I would not recommend them as a bird deterrent.UPDATE*** Well, I still stand by my claim of poor performance with this product, I have to say that the merchants customer service has been excellent. They reached out to me right away, and offered me a full refund on this product. While I can’t recommend the bird spikes, I can absolutely recommend, the seller
