The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm

This is a beautiful collectors edition of The Fairy Tales of The Brothers Grimm. The book is a purple material hardback with lovely gold lettering. The artwork on the front and back covers is simple and bright but it detracts a little from the old style of the book as they are actually stickers applied to the cover directly. Unfortunately there is no dust jacket or sleeve to protect the book but I think it looks quite striking without one.The fairytales themselves are relatively short but each one is quite wonderful to read. Although you might be familiar with some of the tales such as Snow White due to modern Disney interpretations these stories are the original creepy fairytales rooted in morality rather than 'living happily ever after'. Each story has a gold title page and is accompanied by illustrations that are as diverse and interesting as the fairytales. The artwork ranges from the 1950s to more modern pieces and will appeal to both adults and children.The stories in this edition are as follows:The Frog Prince, The Wolf and The Seven Little Goats, Little Brother and Little Sister, Rapunzel, Hansel and Gretel, The Fisherman and His Wife, The Brave Little Tailor, Cinderella, Mother Holle, Little Red Riding Hood, The Bremen Town Musicians, The Devil With The Three Golden Hairs, The Shoemaker and The Eleves, Tom Thumb's Travels, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, The Three Feathers, The Golden Goose, Jorinda and Joringel, The Goose Girl, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, The Star Coins, Snow White and Rose Red, The Hare and The Hedgehog, Puss 'n Boots and The Golden Key.Overall I think this is a wonderful and well-presented edition with a huge selection of fairytales to be enjoyed at any age - I would definitely recommend it.

I have been searching for a book like this for a while, I grew up with Germanic traditional tales and I wasn’t too impress to find out the 'tailored' versions that are kids presented with over here in UK. At first some of them might seem to be bit crude like when i was reading to my daughter the story of Cinderella and how her evil sister was asked by her mother to cut off her heel so she can fit into the slipper, but that is the part of the charm. It only highlight the moral value they are trying to pass on to the young reader. It is not all pink and rosy out there and this is the first encounter of your child with various personalities evil or good. Moreover, book is absolutely stunningly put together, with each story having an introduction, its own cut out silhouette art work and then each one of them has got illustrations from various artists that actually worked on the Grimm’s tales originally. It is one to keep and pass on to my future grandchildren. We do read it each night and we are still in love with it.

I bought this for my friend's daughters 10th birthday, as she loves reading books and I wanted to get her something a bit different. The delight on her face when she unwrapped it said it all. The book is a quality product, from the materials used (when she took off the cling film wrapping, she immediately commented on how the cover felt) , the illustrations and the actual weight of the book itself!! In fact, if she ever gets bored with the stories (which I doubt), she could use it to develop some strength through resistance training exercises... that'll keep the government's exercise tsar happy!

It's absolutely stunning! I bought this to write an essay on children's literature and thought I'd never use it again but I have. It's now my guilty pleasure to read the book once in a while to read the stories I used to read as a child. The best treasury I've ever had and is such a keepsake. Showed it to my flatmate and she was uber jealous and bought one for herself!

Perhaps I didn't read the description properly, but I was expecting a coffee table size book, it's more of a pocket guide size! 😂Beautiful illustrations and lovely book overall

I was searching for beautifully illustrated book for litte girls and after a long research found this one and got it form amazon about two years ago. I absolutely love it, so is the little one, pictures are very nice, so is hardcover and we simply love good old and well known stories!Don't remember any issues with delivery. Good product!

I bought this for my grandaughter, who loves bedtime stories. The book arrived in perfect condition, lovely soft, touchy feely cover, ribbon page markers, gold pages at the beginning of each story relating the heritage of the story and lovely pictures throughout. I am very pleased I bought it. Would recommend.

The book comes in a beautiful cover. Velvet cloth like cover. The stories are what they original are. Not sugar coated and changed to suit any modern times. I wanted a copy of original stories. Glad I got this one. The illustrations are by very famous illustrators. Love this book!
