A Solidly Built, Compact UV Light Source for Specialized Usage.
Most of the light emitted by the Eowco UV Flashlight is invisible; that which is visible, the purple, so-called “black light,” is just the tip of the light spectrum iceberg. The little flashlight, measuring only 3.5” when collapsed, can be conveniently carried in a pocket or purse. UV light has any number of specialized uses in a variety of industries. I’ve seen it used in the restaurant industry to demonstrate how quickly germs can spread. The food handling trainers would place a small amount of a powder that reacts with UV light, the “germs,” in just a couple of key places. Two days later, using a UV light source like the Eowco UV Flashlight, it would be shown that the powder had spread virtually everywhere around the restaurant. It’s scary. In my case, I enjoy buying, selling and trading wrist watches. A determining factor in a watches value, especially sports watches, like a dive watch, is the condition and efficacy of its luminosity. The compounds and chemicals used to manufacture watch lumen react to UV light, since most often they are stimulated and invigorated by exposure to the sun, a UV light source. A watches luminosity deteriorates with age, so by using a UV light source such as the Eowco flashlight, it can be determined whether or not the luminosity is still reacting, its approximate age and if it’s still effective. The Eowco 356nm UV Flashlight is a handy, very portable and for all intents and purposes, appears to be a well-built and handy device for those that have a use for UV light. The light output can be focused to a lesser or greater degree by extending or collapsing the front end. It is also versatile in the voltage used, with a maximum of 4v. According to the seller, the higher the voltage used, the brighter the light output. I’ve been using a 14500 3.7v rechargeable battery and it been working fine.

Pretty sure it doesn't bring out urine stains
So I finally got this to try out. Since I have several dogs, they like to go in random places when they're not let out in a timely manner. Now while I keep up with it, I wanted a way to see if it was completely clean. So when this showed up today, I went around and ran the light on the spots I know they've pee'd on. Nothing. No evidence of urine stains. I'm pretty fastidious when cleaning up after them, but i'm not THAT good. I know this is supposed to bring out stains, but by itself I'm thinking it's only half the tools you need. Pretty sure there's a special set of glasses needed. As an added reinforcement, I went outside to areas where they do go to the bathroom, and nothing there too. So, while this is a nice novelty flashlight, it doesn't serve the purpose for which I wanted it to. Just be warned that some of these other commenters might be feeding you a line about this product. Good luck!

Perfect for Scorpion Hunting in the Desert
In the pictures you can see how well camoflauged bark scorpions are here in the desert, and then compare how easy it is to spot their image with the UV light--they flouresce. And now that it's spring, it's the perfect time to check for the emerging babies--if you find one, there are others emerging nearby. The best time to check the effectiveness of your scorpticide is after dark. When the opportunity to have a small (see comparison with ballpoint pen in photo), easy-to-handle UV light came my way, I jumped at it. (I've had the scorpticide, applicator, etc for some time). This little light has a clip-on feature, or it's small enough to just drop in your pocket or bag. It uses one regular AA battery, which doesn't come with it, but is a common size to find in any store. I used one battery for about a week of extensive searching of closets, carpets, patio shrubs etc, and then had to change it. That's pretty good.PS I don't need to check for dog urine stains, but I did find out how well my vacuum cleaned the carpet. It's amazing how many tiny specks of "dirt" flouresce, even when the carpet looked perfectly clean to the naked eye.

Works well
I try to keep a UV flashlight in my car and my purse because I collect uranium glass and this is the best way to check a piece of glass to see if it contains uranium. In my first photo you can see the glass without shining the light and the second photo shows what you see when the glass contains uranium. This flashlight works great. This flashlight is small, so it is perfect to carry in your pocket if you are in antique stores. Some people like to use these when they have a new pet to check for urine stains and it also works well for that.It uses 1 AA battery that is not included. The reason for 4 stars is the button that you turn it on and off with is where the battery goes. It is hard to tell where to turn it and it is not easy to take it off. Also there are no markings on the flashlight itself that says + or - to let you know which way the battery needs to be inserted, it does tell you in the instructions but of course after the first use you don’t keep the instructions typically and if you did keep them would you know where they were😃? So if your battery dies, and mine does because I use it a lot, make sure you don’t take the dead battery out before you get the new one so you don’t have to guess which way it goes. I know some will think this is petty but the end is aggravating to remove and line back up and get it to thread back correctly and that’s the only way you could check to see if the battery was working.

Cost as much to return defective item
Product was defective, cost almost as much to return as the original price with are local UPS store printing return labels and packaging. So I ended up paying for two lights to get one good one. Should of disposed of the defective one and forget the return. Seller did quick ship a new one that worked.

Very portable UV flashlight.
It takes a single AA battery to operate. The bottom cover twist off for the battery compartment and the cover also has the button for on and off. It has a telescoping top for focusing for zoom or widening the light. The tip of the flashlight seems fairly sharp, possible could be used for breaking glass in an emergency?
