Industries 151-064 Key/Wrench

Prompt delivery, sturdy product.You need to try the lid key portion of this tool prior to needing it in an emergency. The lid key wouldn’t fit through the hole in our meter lid. I had to take a metal file to it to adjust the shape quite a bit in order to get it to fit into / through the keyhole in our meter lid. Once I got it to fit through the key opening I was unable to turn the key because once again it wasn’t quite the right shape. The portion of the lid key that is supposed to slide under the meter lid wouldn’t fit under it - so it was impossible to turn the key. I got the metal file back out and adjusted the key again.. and then I was able to turn the lid key.Once I adjusted the lid key to work with our meter lid everything worked great.

I had to buy this tool because the city replaced my water meter, and the new cover they used doesn't allow access for my old "T" handle tool to reach the shutoff valve. I have to reach down under the cover to use this tool (yuk, not a big fan of black widow spiders), but the angle of the handle allows me to easily shut off the valve. A lot of other reviewers have complained about the key part not fitting their water meter covers; as delivered, the key didn't fit my water meter cover either, but I wasn't too worried about that, since you can use just about anything - a screwdriver, the handle of a pair of pliers, heck, even a stick - to lift off the cover, but I decided to do the little bit of grinding needed to make the key fit my cover. The tool is made out of brass, so it's pretty easy to do, and now I've got a custom fit.

Durable and the flag fits nicely in the meter lid.

Bought it a year ago but had my first occasion to use it today. Broke immediately with just mild hand pressure.

in the picture, the key portion that unlocks the water box looked straight to me. it isn't, it's set at like a 45 degree angle, so it won't open the meter boxes like i needed it to. however the wrench portion works like a champ, and it seems like a VERY sturdy well built tool.

The wrench kept slipping of the turn off on water meter.

Good, just what I needed

I needed the angle wrench to turn the water valves in the tight boxes. I, too, had to grind down the key part so I can use it with our water meter covers.UPDATE: The wrench part broke on the 2nd use. Bad Product, too weak for the job.
