Fits perfect for the tools I have to use. Great tamper and I love the little case for the stirrer. Good value for the money.

When used properly, this tamp provides and nice even tamp which is critical for good extraction. I polish a little (giving it a short twist after applying pressure), I do this to ensure all my grounds are in the puck and not sticking to the tamp - I do spritz my beans a little before grinding to reduce the effect of static electricity and eliminates (or reduces) voids in my puck. Here the nice WDT (Weiss Distribution Tool) to breakdown clumps and eliminate voids - puck prep is very important to reduce the chance of bitter or sour tasting espresso. I feel comfortable recommending this product.

So the tamper is totally the winner of this package the second piece is good however it doesn’t really get all the coffee grinds when stirring so they sorta clump up into balls however it’s not a deal breaker still a really great price

The essential base for any good espresso, cappuccino or latte is the quality of the "coffee" puck in the portafilter. This combination package fulfills almost everything you need to obtain that. The spring-loaded coffee tamper provides even pressure across the whole surface of the espresso coffee grounds in the portafilter & provides the perfect espresso coffee puck, much more superior to the plastic combination scoops/tampers that you generally find, and the spring mechanism allows for an even compression of the coffee grounds that even a standard metal tamper can't provide. Then when you gently pierce the compressed coffee grounds in the puck with the WDT tool ONCE ONLY, it allows for a more even flow of the pressurized water over the surface & through the coffee grounds.All that is missing is a screen to put on top of the portafilter to provide the perfect hot water distribution over the coffee grounds but there are plenty available on amazon (just make sure you get the right size for your portafilter though; most are 51mm but there are espresso machines on the market with smaller or larger portafilters).What is nice as well is the wooden screw on "cap" that protects the thin metal spines of the WDT tool when not in use. If you are serious about trying to make the perfect espresso drink, get this set and add a portafilter screen and you will be VERY happy with the results, trust me!

Good combination of espresso essentials here-the tamper is sturdy and does the job, however the spring simply pushes the handle down and not the actual tamp head down to the grounds, so it's not even relevant. However, for a basic tamper it works wonders.The WDT tool does not work out the box-the needles are simply too close together to correctly distribute the grounds, where they will clump up instead of separate and evenly distribute. However, the needles are flexible-a small bend outwards for some of them and the WDT tool works perfectly. For this price point it's worth the extra little inconvenience.

This makes such a great improvement in my coffee/ espresso taste. The fresh ground coffee is stirred and then pressed to become so much smoother in taste. I consistently now make a better tasting coffee than ever before. I highly recommend this.
