Installed with minimal difficulty and damper opens and closes easily. You can hear it snap shut. When winter arrives I will update when burning a fire in the fireplace.

Works just like advertised. Supper easy to install. Love it.

My only complaint is that it takes some strength to activate. Not an easy pull. Will only be used a few times per year at most so will be interesting to see if the seal sticks after it sits in the sun.

On the top of the installation instructions, in bold type, it says not for use on a gas driven fireplace. It didn't mention that anywhere in the Amazon product description. Not many people would install a fireplace damper that wouldn't work on a natural gas/log fireplace. When I called they said I needed to modify the damper so it didn't close all the way. They gave no instructions but I figured out I could wrap 1/4 inch thick wire around the base where the damper closes.Second, the damper is closed by pulling down on a cable that pulls the spring loaded damper down. The base connection that holds the damper down is to be connected to the fireplace wall by 2 small nails (with spacers that widen when pounded in). That lasted a whole 24 hours before I heard a 'whoosh' when the nails popped out of the wall. I ended up drilling larger holes and using 5/16" lag screws. I hope they hold.
