Rubaiyat: By Omar Khayyam - Illustrated

I have a very old copy of this book, which my father bought back from India where he served during WW2. It was a book that my mother would often quote from so I have known this work for over 50 year's and although as a child I was often uncertain quite what the relevance of my mother's wise words was, as I get older the clarity of her wisdom becomes more obvious. The point of this short personal history is that you may or may not understand the meaning the first time you read it, but reflection will bring clarity so please re-read periodically as however well you believe you know it, as you age it's meaning to you will alter too.

The poem itself is of course relatively short and so the book includes a good deal of background information as well as the work.I found it useful to dip into this and of course the poem remains the same. Its good to have access to an electronic version of this wonderful piece.

While It certainly is good to have the neglected Second Edition, there is a problem with the formatting. The verses appear as paragraphs rather than quatrains.
