Love my Pit Boss smoker!
I looked at so many smokers for my price point and even tho this one didn't get very good reviews I decided to purchase it anyway. I wanted one on a stand which the other smokers I compared this one to had no stand so bending over to put food in would be difficult. The other reason for this purchase was the easy access to refill the chip box, a nice large water pan and drip pan. Do cover the water pan in foil for easy clean up. I currently have tried several different meats before I did this review to see if the other reviews I read were true or not. I found that it smoked my meat great with no issues. My pics show all the nice smoke it produced. No complaints. If it leaks smoke from the door then adjust the door latch tighter and problem is solved. I made a whole chicken, 2 pork butts, baby back ribs, pork chops, turkey legs, wings, lastly for the 4th of July I tried hamburgers and hotdogs. So far everything turned out great. Next complaint from reviews was the temperature. I found that by using my extra digital thermometer that I let hang in the smoker gives me the true temp. Also, definitely invest in a digital meat prob so the door stays closed. The gage on the front is not correct, it is off by a few degrees. Which is no big deal because every grill I every had they were all off on the temp. Next complaint that people had was the temp never got to or over 350°, that is true but who would want to when this is a smoker and not a grill, foods cook low and slow in a smoker, it did great maintaining my 225° that I wanted as well as a 275°. It did reach 300° at one point but the dial just needs to be turned down a bit and look for that sweet spot and ignore their notches on it. The window, another complaint was after the 1st smoke you can't see inside. I clean mine easily with a water/vinegar mix. Wipes right off, simple. The only downside was when doing a really long cook was the smoker turned off. This happened twice but no worries, as I did 1st time, just turn it off and turn back on and then it was fine. Maybe this happens because it is electric and not gas or charcoal, not sure but for me that is minor since I often go and check my food and temp several times during the smoking process. I also don't open the door unless I have to spritz the meat. Other than that, leave the door alone to not loose the heat. All in all I love this smoker! Yes, this is a long review but I felt like all the negative reviews I found to be user error. I am no pro for sure just a 61 year old female that loves to cook, bake, grill for her family and now a smoking queen. Another pro is that I don't have to stand in front of a hot grill flipping food. Again, its a smoker, not meant to go up to 400°, buy a grill for that issue. Electric is different not like the gas, pellet or charcoal smokers so its a little trickier, I don't like to deal with the other stuff, even my char-broil grill is Electric. The smoker is solid, sturdy and easy to move since it has wheels. Thank you Pit Boss! I love it. Thanks to Amazon for a great delivery and no damage during shipping and happy smoking folks!

Easy assembly, easy to clean, and lots of great smoke flavor!
I had been considering a pellet smoker but the high front end cost, the tedious cleanup, and large number of negative reviews about controller issues and hopper fires made me think twice. Instead, I went with this Blazing Blue PitBoss Series 2 analog electric smoker, and I am so happy I did!Assembly: This was very easy for 1 person to do (and I am not mechanically inclined). The pieces were well labeled, and the included booklet had written instructions as well as good diagrams. All the pieces lined up nicely, and the only tools I needed were a small and a medium Philips head screwdriver. I did watch an assembly video on YouTube (look for IrixGuy) before starting, which helped. Assembly maybe took an hour.Initial Curing: After assembly, I took a damp rag and washed down the inside of the smoker, and washed all the racks and pans with soap and hot water. I dried everything, then put vegetable oil on some paper towels and gave the inside of the smoker, the racks, and the pans a VERY light coating. I turned the smoker to high heat, opened the vents full, and allowed it to heat (without the water pan) for 1 hr. Then I added the water pan with water, and a box full of wood chips. I left the vents open the first 20 minutes, until there was a good stream of smoke coming out of the box, then partially closed them and let it go for another 2 hours. I turned it off and let it cool down completely before using it to cook for the first time.So far I've smoked briskets and baby back ribs, which have come out amazing. Great smoke flavor, tender, and moist. Typically I need to replenish my wood chips every 1.5 - 2 hours. I usually refill the water pan at the same time. (Btw - I use a plant watering can with a long narrow spout to avoid spilling water on the burners. Works great!). I keep my temp around 225 degrees until the meat hit the stall point, where I wrap them in foil, partially close the vents, and then crank the heat up for the remainder of the cook time. What I love: The racks are super simple to adjust within the unit, and they slide out easily even with a large pan of food. Plus, it's all analog so very few electronics that can malfunction. The flat top is handy for setting pans on as I move things around inside the unit. The glass window is great to keep an eye on your food - it does cloud up during the cook but I can still look in and make sure there isn't a flare up.Cleanup is super simple, especially if you use a drip pan and line your water pan with foil. I would also suggest using a grease proof and fire proof BBQ mat under the smoker in case of spills as you pull food in and out. What needs improvement: like other reviewers have mentioned, the temperature gauge built into the unit is completely useless. Instead, I use a thermowrks square Dot that can monitor the ambient temperature in the smoker as well as the internal temperature of the meat. My ambient probe thermometer was reading 225 while the built in thermometer was reading less than 200 (actually I never saw the built in one go above 200, even when the probe registered 320 degrees). Not a deal breaker, though, as I would use my probe thermometer even if the built in one worked perfectly. The wheels are something I really would like to see improved. It only has 2 wheels in the back, and they aren't castor wheels so maneuvering in anything other than a straight line is difficult. Glad they are there as it's too heavy to carry for very long, but would really have loved to see 4 locking castor wheels instead.Overall, very happy with my purchase and would recommend this unit!

Put Boss Smoker
I waited to give a review until I had used the smoker a couple of times. The smoker works great, is a good size for a family meal (you can smoke 4 racks or ribs max), is easy to use, perfect for someone who expects to use once a month or so. Assembly was smooth until the door latch and that took several tries lol. Negatives: pellet tray is small and the wood chips are gone after 1.5 hours so you will need to dump and refill the chip bin. This is hot, so prepare to have a place to put the hot ash, hot container, and have silicone gloves or something to protect yourself while dumping and refilling the container. I put a cookie sheet on top of the smoker to have somewhere to put the hot container. Glass is going to be filthy after first smoking so not really useful as I thought. I saw another person use a cookie cooling rack as a way to get the meat in and out of the smoker and I may adopt that method. Getting the food in and out is somewhat tricky. Need long sturdy tongs. I dropped my 1/2 rack of ribs first time learning how to get food in and out of thing. I now take a cookie sheet out to use as a platter to get the food to/from. Overall really nice smoker for the value. I bought this not knowing if we would enjoy it and didn’t want to spend a lot of money to try a smoker. My husband is a real BBQ lover so I see us upgrading to one with a automatic feed hopper because we grill often and now know we like the smoking process.

Great smoker, perfect size, easy to use
I’ve never used a smoke before, I got this thing and assembled it in a half hour, love the flavor. Temp gauge is a little off so you’ll have to use a different one. But it’s a great product for the price
