Thick. Easy to get on. Safe.
My first impression of these Starrylake ice cleats: They are much heavier than the other brand we have. This isn’t a bad thing as I think they will be way more durable. The thickness of the rubber and the larger metal spikes on the soles make this feel sturdier than the other brand. At the time we ordered, the Starrylake cleats were about 4x the cost of the cheap ones. But based on the material thickness these feel like they will last a lifetime compared to the others. These ice cleats came in a little drawstring bag which I appreciate because it will keep the set together and protect the surroundings from the metal spikes. The other set we have did not come with its own carry bag and I’ve had to put them in a ziplock to keep them from catching on other fabric items or scratching things up. I like that I can just throw these in the car or the emergency kit and know that they will last for a long time. While we don’t get bad ice very often where I live, we just went through a really bad ice storm. The flimsier set was helpful but I wanted a set for my spouse or to lend to a neighbor the next time. I can’t for sure test these out in icy conditions, but I could compare them to the other set and how they work in normal conditions.Because these use a thicker rubber material, I did have to use a little more strength to pull them on. Once they stretch a little it will be just fine. Once they were hooked over the toe, the big rubber pull tab above the heel helped to stretch the cleat up and over the heel of my shoe. It only took minor adjustments to make sure the cleat was centered left to right. I used the listing photos online to figure out where the straps should be threaded through and in which orientation. I had to pull the straps pretty tight in order to get the Velcro hooks/loops to overlap enough to stay put. I feel like the straps might be uncomfortably tight if I had to wear these for long, but I don’t really think they are necessary to use. I tried walking around outside with the straps off and the cleats stayed in place just fine.I tried scuffing my feet on fairly smooth concrete and flagstone as well as slightly rough asphalt. I also tried twisting my body. The cleats held my feet in place on the ground. They seem like they will grip ice pretty well.I repeated the experiment with my cheaper set and they also kept my feet from moving much. But, I don’t think the cheaper set did quite as good of a job as this Starrylake set.I like that the 24 metal spikes per foot on this set are mounted in a variety of orientations. It seems like this will help to keep you from slipping no matter which direction your foot wants to move on the ice. This is a lot better than my other set, which just has 6 tiny circular posts set into the thinner rubber for each foot. One complaint is that some of the spikes on this set were a little uncomfortable to walk on. Different ones were uncomfortable depending on which shoes I was wearing them with. This may be unique to my feet and not affect others. It wasn’t bad enough that it would keep me from wearing these out on the ice. I don’t expect to be out in an ice storm more than necessary anyway so I don’t feel that my feet would be sore after the amount of use I’d need them for. Also, after seeing how many people went to the hospital with broken bones after slipping on ice, a little discomfort is a small price to pay. These were a size Medium and fit both pairs of my shoes as expected even though my sets of shoes were different sizes. I think this is a great set to have on hand for icy and slippery conditions.

I keep these in the car in case I end up somewhere where they are needed
I only used these once and that was to cross a slippery parking lot after a surprise ice storm. They seemed to provide good traction... meaning that I didn't fall, but I certainly was still taking the stroll carefully. I'm not sure how long these would last under continued use situations, but for what I wanted, these do the job just great

True to size. Works great on ice! Was a lifesaver during my Iceland trip
I used this on my Iceland trip and can confirm that it works great in providing traction when walking on ice and snow. In Iceland during the winter, there was a lot of ice everywhere so it was very slippery. When I had these on though, I was able to hike and walk through the ice and snow without any problems. Even when putting your weight on the studs, they don't bend and are very strong. They are also pretty comfortable to walk around in on long hikes since the studs are evenly distrubting your weight. I am a size 9 in women's boots and these fit perfectly. I can tell that these could stretch further to accomodate slightly larger shoe sizes as well. The extra strap was a nice addition to keep these secure on my boots. I never had any problems with them slipping off of my boots, mainly because the rubbery material of the cleats have a nice grip on your shoes. My cleats had a lot of heavy usage, and are still holding up great so far. These were truly a necessity for my trip. I would highly recommend these!

perfect!
I'm so happy I ordered these. Although the weather warmed up preventing me from giving them a proper test, I am quite pleased with the quality of the cleats upon examination. They fit well over my boots and I am less afraid of trekking out in the harsh winter weather now :)

Quality is questionable
We just had an ice storm so I knew I needed a pair of crampons. I've seen tons of people wear ones similar to these so I grabbed a pair. However when I got them I noticed many of the spikes are still covered with the rubber soles, some aren't even long enough to poke through. If the spikes are covered, how much grasp can they provide on ice? Unfortunately, the weather has warmed up so I can't test it but I will be taking these to the mountains and will update after trying them out.Second, I got the size according to my shoe size and you can see in the photo, the heels isn't placed where it should, like the ads. It's mid point between the heel and the arch. I'm not sure how much this'll affect grip but I'll test it and report back.I'm not sure I can confidently recommend these just yet but from a first pass, they don't measure up compared to other crampons of a similar style.

Good traction...can walk on ice with confidence
These Starry Lake ice cleats (love the name!) arrived with two foot pieces and two straps, but no instructions on how to attach them. It's simple once you know how, but not intuitive enough to be sure to get it right without more info. Sure, the product listing page includes instructions, but consumers shouldn't have to go to a website to find that (we all know how fleeting webpages can be!). Otherwise, these cleats look and feel well-made and worked really well. The XL size stretched easily over men's size 13 shoe/boots similar to those in the product listing. Although the heel cleats seemed weird at first because they're farther from the back of the foot than expected, they functioned perfectly fine. We've had unusually warm weather lately, which has repeatedly melted and refrozen snow into ice, making it treacherous to venture onto our rural driveway or up the road. These cleats provided great traction on ice---hubby was able to walk with confidence. I wouldn't hesitate to buy these for other family members. Recommend.

Winter must have
The media could not be loaded. The Ice snow traction cleats has great traction on snow/ice condition. It is very easy to put on/off. Included velcro strap to secure/hold the cleats. The winter walking outside can be challenging but feel confident with this cleats, no more slipping or worrying about falling down. Perfect for harsh Canadian winter especially around the rocky mountain area. The price $22.99 for size XL at the time of this review. Discount coupon would be nice.
