These are great reed switches. They work as described: normally closed, until you introduce a magnetic field close by and then they are open. As with any reed switches, they are a bit fragile so you shouldn't be bending them and manipulating them too much. I used them in a resin mold and it works great.

These are normally closed magnetic reed switches which function as described. They are each comprised of three components in actual fact.At the core is a magnetic reed switch in a typical configuration. It's encased in plastic for more durability than the glass type. A small magnet is affixed on the side which pulls the contacts closed (Normally Closed). Shrink tubing holds it all in place.When used in a circuit, holding a magnet to the opposite side of the affixed magnet will pull the contacts open, breaking the flow of electricity through the switch. All the ones I tested worked as expected.
