The Art of BMW Motorcycles

First, the quality of this book is great - heavy stock pages, beautiful "gallery" pictures. In short, it's a great "coffee table book." The book seems to include a rich history though, per the book's description, it is not all-inclusive but covers instead what the author describes as "all the classics." I'm fine with that and will admit up front I am not a BMW historian, or anything even remotely similar, so I won't argue about what constitutes a classic. My primary disappointment with "Art of BMW Motorcycles" however, is that BMW's #1-selling motorcycle, the R1200GS (and R1200GS Adventure), is only reflected by the 2007 model (11 years old by the time of the book's 2018 release/copyright). The current GS is the R1250GS, which debuted in 2019 so, given the release-date of the book, the lack of the new R1250 is understandable, however the liquid-cooled R1200 debuted in 2013/2014 and its exclusion is, to me, questionable. Was the 2007 model of the GS a stand-out model? Not that I know. It wasn't the first for the GS, it wasn't the first Adventure and it doesn't reflect any major update to the bike or motor - it's "just" a GS. My bias: I've ridden BMWs since 2003 and the GS Adventure since 2011. That the GS in the book is "so old" is disappointing but it's more disappointing that the author could've easily included a more recent/relevant model instead of the 2007. The latest bike in this book is from model-year 2017, so I expected a later (newer) version of the GS/GS Adventure.
