I've been baking a large rum cake for over 20 years as gifts and to bring to events. For at least 15 years, I could never find a heavy-duty, round paper plate that was large and strong enough to fit this fairly heavy cake. So, I would purchase a large, disposable plastic plate which was still not quite large enough for the cake but served the purpose. Then around 5 years ago, Dixie came out with this extra large, heavy-duty 11 1/2" paper plate that was exactly what was needed. The rum cake fits perfectly on this plate. What's pictured is just another design of the same plate I usually purchase from Amazon; however, I found this design at another store one time when Amazon was temporarily out of stock. This plate would be perfect any time an extra large, heavy-duty paper plate is needed. No other brand other than Dixie makes a heavy-duty plate this size.
