Unicomp Ultra Classic Model M US APL Black Buckling Spring 104 Key USB Keyboard

Keyboard arrived in great condition. No dislodged keycaps, no creaking, and worked immediately. However, I had to reseat the L Shift key, as it was a bit crooked upon delivery.The keyboard is now my daily driver at work. My coworkers now hate me, and I have a great typing experience! It's a win-win!I had never typed on a model M before this, but I am so glad that I can finally experience this one-of-a-kind experience.

Cap lock light doesn't work! Important to me!

My coworker can hear me type from across the hall. I feel like im typing on something from the 1800's

The item in the photos on Amazon are not exactly what I received. The print of the additional characters is a light color but on the keyboard I received the print was bright blue in color (see photos) and this is a bit distracting. Of course it "feels" like the old IBM keyboard and has a straight USB (not coiled) cable. Here is the weird part - the delete key in the center section of the keyboard will delete multiple items in a folder on random button presses. So if you delete one email/file, it may delete one or it may delete two. Returned to amazon.

Just realize that the one that you order might not have the same key caps - keyboard works fine and honestly I like some of the the key caps on this one better - just not what I ordered - but it's a fine keyboard - doesn't sound exactly like my old IBM model M but it is loud enough that I know what I am typing and can type quick enough with the audio and finger feel with it - great keybard just realize you might not get the right keycaps if you order it. (only reason for actual loss of a star is it doesn't feel like my current IBM model M I don't feel like I could defend myself with it by bashing someone in the head [trust me those old IBMs are heavy and solid! HAHA]

Lovely mechanical keyboard feel. APL characters indicated on each key in blue; easy to set up Mac keyboard mapping to use APL keys in Dyalog by pressing "Alt" and then the appropriate key (of course, you can still use the backtick convention to enter the special APL characters, using the symbol on the key as a mnemonic).

I used a clattery IBM keyboard for decades. This feels just like it - I love it. A plus (for me): the keycaps also have APL legends!

Excellent durable and reliable keyboards. I'm a purchasing officer for a transcription company and bought a dozen of these from different sources for our shared iMacs. Our transcriptors really pound their keyboards so hard that the regular Apple keyboards break in less then a year under our usual workload. I decided to initially purchase two Spacesaver units three years ago from a second hand source and I'm amazed thst still looks and works like brand new today despite of all the abuse it took. The keys still as crisp as ever, the keys haven't become shiney, and the characters on the keycaps still looks like the day we bought it. On top of that our transcriptionist love the feel of the keyboard! So we bought more!My only nit pik is the so so quality finish. For example some character prints of the keys look off. However it is still built like a tank!
