A true Regulation Bugle that absolutely meets USA and USMC Regulation Standard!
I decided to wait a month or so before writing a review. Let me begin with the fact that I am a beginning bugler. I played a trumpet back in high school, but that's it. I am a US Marine, an Officer, and an Army Paratrooper. I bought this bugle because there is a vast shortage of buglers for military funerals. My plan is to learn to play various bugle calls so that I may volunteer to play taps at veterans funerals. It's a small way of giving something back to my brothers in arms. Now to the review. 1) This bugle is keyed in G, and the tuning is spot on. This is a high quality instrument. Pull the tuning slide out to the stop and the key changes to F. Again, spot on. 2) The metal work (mine is brass) is excellent. The bell tapers beautifully and the mouthpiece socket is nicely reinforced. 3) The bugle sling rings are correct and well manufactured. 4) The brand name etching is functional, reading simply "US Regulation". Personally, I would have liked to have seen something more reminiscent of a 1930's scrolling as was found on older bugles, and would have paid a higher price for this added touch. This of course does not detract from this bugle's intended purpose. 5) The gig bag is everything it should be and if you want to protect your investment, this is an absolute must. 6). The mouthpiece is correct, well made and polished. This is a critical part of any bugle, so I'm happy this one is high quality and properly turned. 7) The instruction book is easy to follow and gets the beginner off to a successful start. In my personal library is a copy of the 1935 USMC manual for bugle, and there is nothing contradictory found in Mr. Palmer's manual that comes with this bugle. 8). I am making great progress in my practice, am having more FUN than you can imagine. By the fall, I expect to be ready as a volunteer bugler, so that a serviceman's family will have the benefit of an actual bugler playing Taps at their loved one's funeral, instead of having to tolerate a recording. No trooper should suffer such an indignity, so I'm doing something about it in my own small way. 9) Best $200 I ever spent! 10) If you have a question, ask. I will write you back. Sincerely, Captain John Wagner, IN, USAR, currently serving with the WW2 Airborne Demonstration Team at Frederick Army Airfield. Airborne All The Way!

Great appearance and playability!
My Regulation Bugle arrived just a few days after the order was processed. It is a high quality, well made instrument. I was actually surprised at the beautiful highly polished finish of the instrument. And most importantly, it sounds great! I found that the included mouthpiece was somewhat difficult to play, so I just used my 3C trumpet mouthpiece. Definately worth the money paid.

Beautiful Instrument of great quality. Everything as advertised.
I am a trumpet player and had in the past played taps for deceased Vets since the local American Legion had no one to play the bugle. I purchased this bugle to be more authentic and appropriate for future use at services. The people at U. S. Regulation Bugle were very good to deal with. I had not realized that when I made the order, I had checked what directed U. S. Regulation Bugle to send it by next day air delivery. The circumstances did not allow for that to happen, and I was contacted by the company just to make sure 2nd day delivery would be acceptable. The instrument is very well made and light as it would be for actual military personnel. My only drawback is, as I'm sure all trumpet/bugle players would know, the included mouthpiece is of different size and shape than what I normally use for the trumpet. I currently use a 7C because it has been a while since I played the instrument and have "lost my lip". I'm not sure what size the included mouthpiece is, but after doing some research, I'm sure it is more applicable to the bugle than a 7C trumpet size. I feel that a bugle player or someone starting just starting out on the bugle will find this instrument to be very suitable.Overall, I am very pleased with the instrument and will likely purchase another instrument in the future for other family members.

High Quality Bugle with Service to Match!
This is a beautiful high quality instrument. I also really like the well made gig bag. I got the bugle to play taps at funeral services for veterans, so I wanted to be sure that my bugle and I showed the respect they deserved. USA made with a very good look and sound, this bugle meets my requirements. In addition, through no fault of the vendor, the first bugle arrived damaged during shipping. I notified the vendor as soon as it arrived, they immediately shipped a replacement priority mail, and within two days I had the new bugle with a prepaid label to return the damaged bugle. Unbelievable service!

Easier to play than the less expensive bugles and book was pretty good too
I played trumpet in grade school for a short time so not much experience here. My wife bought one of the $30 bugles for me but it was in a higher key and hard but not impossible to play the standard calls. This one is much easier and I have enjoyed reading the book and being able to play most of the calls now.

Out of tune
The instrument was out of tune; unuseable in a professional situation. They approved the return, but charged me $22 for shipping.

U.S. Regulation Bugle - Brass Lacquer w/Mouthpiece, Bag, and Book
I use this bugle to play taps at Veterans' funeral services. You may want to consider a trumpet mouthpiece of a size that fits you rather than the one that comes with it. It sounds great.
