When I traveled to Argentina the first time in 1995, I was introduced to mate. There was something about the ritual of drinking this "tea" as it is such a pure pastime but looks so illicit. The mate cup (Yerba mate gourd) is artistic and small and everyone sits around in a group passing the mate cup to drink the tea. I loved the camaraderie of the experience. However, the gourd I purchased back in 1995 in Argentina does not keep the mate hot for long and it really leaks or what I call seeps. Therefore, I was in the market for another mate cup but I wanted a stainless steel one.This mate cup is 10 ounces and is double-walled. It comes with a bombilla (a.k.a. straw) and a cleaning brush for the straw. The cleaning brush is good at cleaning the slender tube part of the straw and not so much for the tip. I do not know if the tip can be removed or not. Nevertheless, that is good enough.I love this cup, including the orange color. Since it is double-walled it keeps my mate hot/warm for longer. I have been using this with  Organic Yerba Mate Tea , which I consider authentic and very good.The current price of $21.99 is competitively priced. There are a few cups that are cheaper but then tend to be a couple of ounces smaller. Of course, those with leather can cost in the hundreds. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase. I did buy  another mate cup  to have for a backup or to switch off and that one is a little cheaper and smaller but I have not received it yet. Of course, the mate cups can be used for other drinks as well or just plain (non-mate) tea.

But too big

This beautiful yerba mate gourd is truly one of a kind. I love Kalmateh’s designs because they are double walled and vacuum insulated, meaning that the gourd keeps my mate hot for long periods of time. The design of this mate is beautiful and truly like no other, and I love that it comes with the bombilla and bombilla cleaner. The bombilla itself is also great since it strains out the mate perfectly, allowing for an amazing mate experience from start to finish. I highly recommend this gorgeous, one of a kind mate gourd!

It gets the job done but I rather spend a little extra money for the original traditional wood gourd . Some thing about drinking out of a stainless steel just doesn’t taste as good as the traditional one .. WERID take that I found. It looks cool looks modern easy to hold definitely a nice gift

These cups are just gorgeous.. marble or plain color they all look nice. Purchase 3 and i love it.. they are way bigger then expected. They dont burn your hands when handling and maintain your drink hot. I just love the shape and the colores. Shall purchase more !!!

Conserva el mare calientito

This "gourd" will keep my mate warm for a very long time, it comes with a large capacity, a good quality bombilla, and a very handy lid. It is durable and light and feels good to the touch. It's only issue is that the opening, I feel, is too large. I have very large hands, but when I go to shake the mate to get dust out, a lot of leaves fly out because the opening is almost too large for my hand. If the opening was a little smaller this wouldn't be an issue. Otherwise, great product 👍👍
