Top quality, well made to prevent soreness.
As an active runner there comes a time when you need to make the most of your efforts and recovery. Using various compression products I like to have a good supply to make sure that I am never without. Having a look around I came across and offer for Calf Compressions Sleeves / Guards by ignitionfit for Men & Women - Sports Recovery, Shin Splints, Medical and Air Flight - Use for Running, Cycling, Rugby, Fitness, Gym, Golf, Triathlon and Crossfit which looked appealing, especially the lifetime warranty. The ignitionfit sleeves come supplied in a poly packet. Initial impressions are good with the quality of the knitted fabric being tight and reasonably thicker than some sleeves that I have had. The chevron stripes and branding look good and distinctive.I normally wear a large in these Adidas sleeves ADIDAS Techfit calf sleeves supports MENS L/XL (pair) which I do own many pairs as I really like their ability to do the job. Straying away from what I know best takes a lot but if something is good I will make the jumpFit wise, I chose a large after measuring my calves at the widest part and the sizing has proven to be spot on with the compression being just about right. My first initial test was for my 10k run which tends to go just fine without any major issues if I stick to a certain route but taking a rolling hills route my calves and shins, after intensive weight sessions earlier in the week, will give me some stick.Wearing the sleeves proved that my purchase was a good one as my run went without the show of any shin splints or calf soreness. Asides from the shin splints and calf tightness I also do suffer from a varied amount of muscle vibration which my DOMs from weight sessions will surface or give indication that I am still within the parameters of soreness but wearing these ignitionfit sleeves I never had any signs of soreness or vibration each time my feet landed on the pavement. The post workout / run use of these sleeves has been beneficial as they seem to have aided a speedy recovery and lessened any soreness from muscle vibration or DOMs.To really understand how compression sleeves work, it’s important to have a basic understanding of how blood flows through the body. The heart pumps oxygen containing blood to our extremities and working muscles though arteries. Once the cells use the oxygen and other nutrients from the blood, the then deoxygenated blood, along with lactic acid and other waste products enter the veins to get taken back to the heart. Once the blood gets back to the heart, it’s oxygenated from the lungs and the process is repeated.Keeping oxygenated blood flowing to muscles is important for performance. The more oxygen the cells have, the better they will function. During exercise, the body produces lactic acid as a waste product. If this lactic acid is not removed from the muscles, it can contribute to soreness and decreased ability to perform. Another factor in decreased performance is muscle fatigue. Muscular vibration during physical activity contributes to fatigue. Think about how much shock and vibration is going through your leg muscles as you pound pavement with 3-5 times your body weight while running. Over time, those little vibrations of the muscles add up and they become fatigued.Compression sleeves provide graduated compression, meaning the compression is higher (tighter) at the foot and ankle and lower (looser) as it moves up the calf and lower leg. This type of compression helps to fight the effects of gravity and assist the body in venous return (deoxygenated blood flowing back up to the heart).Recent studies show that with an optimal level of consistent compression, the walls of the arteries will dilate, increasing the blood flow through them. Arterial blood flow has been shown to increase up to 40% during activity and 30% during recovery. This means more oxygen and nutrients flowing through the body! On the other hand, the walls of the veins will constrict under compression, which helps to increase the velocity of blood flow through them. Increased velocity of blood flow through veins means that deoxygenated blood and lactic acid will get back to the heart quicker, which will help to increase the rate of recovery and decrease muscle soreness!. To sum up the benefits of compression; enhanced performance through increased blood flow, quicker recovery and decreased muscle soreness, and less fatigue.Having now used these ignitionfit sleeves for both running and also during a deadlift session I am impressed with their effectiveness and quality. They have washed and dried great also so they are winner for me and something I would happily recommend to others.* I received this product at a discount in exchange for an unbiased and honest review without any inducements or compensation. I only purchase and review products that I am happy to buy and do use myself therefore am able to offer an impartial user review based on my own experience with no association with the retailer. My ratings would be honestly and appropriately recorded had this product either performed well or poor. Should the need to update this review at a later date arise I shall do so.
