Variety of high-interest images; Reluctant little artist loves this series
We have two kids, one (age 6) who loves to write and draw and who carries a pen and little writing pad around with her wherever she goes, and one (age 9) who loathes to even pick up a pencil or crayon. We have been using the first three books for approximately six months and they both LOVE them. At the behest of the children, I ordered books 4-8 from various merchants. Each book in the 8-book series has a variety of high-interest images. Each section is a two-page spread with the drawing instruction on one page, a completed scene on the next accompanied by four lines of large-print text below. The series begins with simple drawings and simple text in book one and gradually increases to more complex drawings and verbiage while maintaining the four-line format. However, I don't use the books in order. Each morning, I put all eight books on the table and the children (one boy, one girl) each choose from which book they will draw dependent upon their interest and their perceived ability. My 9-year-old has become noticeably more confident in his ability to draw and his penmanship has improved dramatically. And this was a boy who cried every time he had to write ANYTHING and never even liked to color. He doesn't cry about writing any more and he looks forward to drawing every morning now. This series has been a lovely way to help build confidence in our reluctant boy, who has even taped a few of his pictures on his wall(!) and has helped to hone the ability of our daughter who is just naturally more oriented toward writing and drawing. I can't recommend this series of books highly enough.

These are wonderful!
I ordered this from amazon and my copy came missing pages and completely marked up so while I wait for a replacement, I decided to check out a couple of these from the library and now I know I need to get the whole set. These are the best drawing books I have seen for small children. I homeschool and we use the art to supplement our geography/biology/history assignments and also use it for handwriting. We have tried other drawing and writing books but these are way better. Love them!

Remarkable drawing instruction!
As a homeschooling mother of 3, I can honestly say I've never found a drawing instructional book that worked like this one does! The step-by-step instructions make it so easy to produce a quality drawing that after my son completed his first one, he signed his name and wrote "really!" under it because he didn't think anyone else in the family would believe that he drew it!The handwriting section is excellent as well, since the book emphasizes handwriting as art - thereby motivating kids to write as well as they draw. I've known about and used this series of books for many years and continue to be tickled pink! Try them out - I know you will be as pleased as we have been.

Anyone Can Draw Well with Draw, Write, Now
I purchased these for my children years ago and was delighted at the quality of work they produced following the simple instructions. Now I'm a grandmother and I use these books to created personal cards to my grandchildren. I am delighted at how well I can draw using these simple instructions and if you get all the books, you will have lots of material to create your own scenes. A must for any homeschooling family who needs a simple, quality art program.

Excellent for English learners
I love this series and have every one. I teach English language learners and these are useful resources for delivering the various content area curricula at a readable level. I set these up as learning centers for when I need the kids to be able to work independently so that I can work with others. When they finish the whole book we bind their pages and make a book they can read to me or to each other. Wonderful stuff!

Great for the reluctant writer!
My daughter enjoys art and Reading, but does not like writing. She complains her hand hurts. She also complains that she cannot think of anything to say. Well, this series gets her interested. We just needed to slow down and have things scripted for her. She just needs to copy these and she learns how to draw as well. I'm really enjoying this series. I have bought most of the animal books in this series. I have not bought the Columbus, Statue of liberty series.

Great Book
This book has inspired my two older children (age 8 and 10) to draw. They love the variety of animals and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. We have two others in the series and now they want to collect them all. Definitely a good purchase.
