An Honest Book
This must have been a hard book to write. Although it does deal with the glitterati lifestyle of London's celebrity Primrose Hill Set, and there are enough stories to make OK magazine happy for a year, it's not exactly cheerful reading. I think it must have taken her a lot of guts to write this, as she and her partner don't exactly come out of it smelling of roses and she's very honest about the toll her lifestyle has taken on her friends and more importantly her family, including her four children. Lowe turns the microscope on her life and frequently finds herself wanting. Having said that, this is a story of hope and there is much to be said for her persistence and bravery in taking the steps to overcome her addictions. In some ways her struggle seems so hard because so much of her life was predicated on addiction, and with the fact that her problems were so 'acceptable' and her lifestyle so easy it must have been so very difficult to make the changes she did.

Just say no
Well done Pearl for being so honest.I didn’t warm to Pearl right away but liked her writing style and found the pace of this very easy to read, quite gripping. Her drug taking catalogue could have become quite wearisome had it not been for the honesty and sense of self hatred and impending doom.Once she faces her serious addiction it became far easier to like Pearl Lowe. She was clearly someone struggling with what amounts to mental illness and addiction.I thanked God for her strong relationship with Danny - the man sounds very strong and dependable as well as very likeable. A woman who can be loved by a man like that - can’t be bad at all.I’m glad she carried on giving up and that she moved away from the fickle and shallow friends who cheered every time she succumbed to temptation - who put temptation in her way. It’s a well written, painfully honest account of some sad and wasted years that did not sound fun at all. Well done Pearl for telling the truth!

An interesting little read!
As a lot of other readers have said, I couldn’t put this down! Started reading 9pm Monday night, and finished it on my lunch break Tuesday. I don’t know why I guess I just wanted to know what happened next. It’s not brilliantly written, the overuse of the word ‘for’ really started to bug me! But it’s an easy read for a bit of celeb gossip ;)

Great read
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Incredible how she came through all her demons, and now is a designer, and author of 2 more brilliant vintage books

Interesting but disappointingly avoids gossip
This is well written and candid account of Pearls drugs struggle. There are plenty " I resolved, then and there, to get clean" episodes only for her to fall off the wagon in the next chapter. There are a few people that you can guess at their identities but this is much more about her personal drugs struggle than dishing the dirt on others. The Jude Law rumors and other well known stories are glossed over - and not commented on.So if you are after Pearls story, this is a quick good read - but no real gossip

A sad story of wasted years ruled by drugs
This was an easy read and like others I read it in a couple of days. I couldn’t help but feel angry at her selfishness and self obsession It’s a good job her partner could afford a nanny as she seems to have been totally incapable of looking after her children most the time. A sad story of wasted years
