Beautiful and lyrical story about self-discovery
Freya, Harun and Nathaniel meet in the oddest way. One of them falls off the Central Park bridge, landing on the other two. The timing couldn’t be odder for these characters. They’re all going through life struggles that had left them searching for the meaning of life. Freya is a rising pop star when she loses her voice, Nathaniel has lost his father, and Harun has lost the love of his life. They come together during this moment of loneliness and despair. Will they comfort one another, or will it help them find their own individual place in this world? The writing is beautiful. Rich, lyrical, full of meaning. This is my first Gayle Forman read (never read If I Stay), and I’m impressed with her style. You get detailed backstory from all of these characters — their family backgrounds, their views on love, and overcoming the expectations from strict religious parents — which makes you root for them all the more. There is romantic tension between two of the characters, but that doesn’t derail you from their individual storylines. The downside? The pacing is a little off. I wanted to skip ahead because nothing was happening for a while, especially toward the middle. There is little dialogue here, which is frustrating for me. I like to hear the characters’ voices, so to speak, and how they interact with one another. I like a novel that’s rich with narrative and dialogue, without one overpowering the other. There are other dangling particles in the story, but I won’t go into them, for I don’t want to spoil it for the reader. I Have Lost My Way is still several steps above most YA novels these days, and I give it four out of five Peppermint Mocha lattes.

This book will help you find your way!
This is a lovely novel that follows the theme of losing your way, literally and figuratively. Freya (a famous singer) has lost her voice, Harun is hoping to run away with a boy he loves, and Nathaniel arrives in New York after a family tragedy. The three of them collide in Central Park, and as they get to know each other, they slowly reveal the parts of their past that they haven't been able to confront. This is told from all three unique perspectives, and most of it takes place within 24 hours of them meeting. Most readers will find themselves connecting with at least one of the characters- a girl that is overburdened by fame, a boy with a conservative religious family, and a boy with no one to help. The plot is pretty action-packed with all of the events happening within the day, but the real beauty of this book is the message that readers have unique abilities and understandings that can help others find their way.

The Power of Loss and Second Chances
I have Lost My Way is a book written about 3 characters, all so young in age that feel like there is nothing left in life after they suffer great loss in their personal life. Sometimes we can lose something, not because a person dies, but because of circumstances and this is the problem a lot of people in this world feel. This author has taken the opportunity to write this book and I personally feel like it was a gift for me to read it, and can be for others as well, no matter what age we may be. This book is listed as young adult but I think it has something to say to all of us, no one has gone through their lives without feeling losses, and the repercussions. This book tells the story of 3 people, Freya a young girl who has lost her voice while trying to put out her debut album; Harun who is gay and has lost his first boyfriend, and he comes from a background that is impossible to understand him; and Nathaniel who has lost his father and gone to New York City with his backpack, little money and no plans. This book takes place all in one day, however each character fills in what their life has been like and what it is now, and how they come together in the same place right at the same time, not because they know each other but because it is fate. After losing love, finding love and discovering who you are, all of them and being thrown together somehow, this is a story about finding someone besides yourself feeling the same way and having the ability to look past their own lives to help another. I gave this book 5***** stars and am so glad I read this book!

You'll maybe find your way with this book?
I was interested in this book because of the location. I thought the cover art was beautiful and I thought that the author was amazing, so I thought, why not give this book a try? I have many different opinions on this book. First up, you should know that this is a book where you start knowing little about the characters and end up knowing the full story. This also has an open ending, meaning you assume/decide. This is a book where loads doesn't happen, but there is an emotional punch and things to think about. There really isn't a strong storyline, but I'd consider this a light read because you can read this and get an idea of the story, but I found the storyline sort of weak. I loved the idea of the three of them finding new lives and fresh starts and beginnings; and the book in a way was like poetry, very descriptive. I did enjoy this novel, and when I was reading, it was hard to put down, because of the writing style and the descriptive words. Overall, would I recommend this book? Yes, if you know that this book is meant for beauty; not for action and drama. Plus, this book has some paragraphs that could change your perspective on being lost. I have mixed feelings on this one. A little bit of wandering around and wasting time, but Gayle's writing style makes up for it.

I normally love this author's books but this one HAS lost its way
I love Gayle Forman's writing but this book was a bit of a disappointment for me. It would have been better if she had focused on one character's viewpoint - preferably Freya. I found the Harun storyline quite unengaging - it is really such a cliché and the outcome is so predictable. It's worth noting that all her previous books have stuck to one's character's perspective and she is nowhere near as good at juggling multiple viewpoints. The books feels far too short and all the storylines feel unresolved by the end. Not really worth what I paid for it.

Good, but a little bland
It wasn't a bad book, but wasn't very well developed. The characters friendships were lovely but the whole thing felt unfinished and not full.
