Olde Irving Park Paperback – January 3, 2015

I have to admit; horror is not my genre. The book was recommended by a trusted friend and while reading "Olde Irving Park", I became a fan of this dark and suspenseful story. The story is set in a real city, a city I love and would like to get to know better now. The characters are complex and I am looking forward to see the layers peeled off from them as the story continues.The writer seems to be great story teller, and definitely has lots of potential.I am looking forward to read the sequel and more from this author.

While horror is not my usual cup of tea, I can say that this guy really knows how to tell a story! As a writer myself, I found Ghilardi's characters unique and frightening. This freshman effort is a compelling page-turner. I look forward to his future work

I loved the book! It paints a portrait of the essence of Chicago. The neighborhoods, the people, even the winter weather took me back to growing up there! I found I wanted to keep reading and couldn't wait for what happened next! I would love to read another book about Doug and another book from Mr. Ghilardi!

An original, lyrical narrative. A fantastic story set in a very real place. The author has a unique voice and shows real talent.

The story is scary and exciting? The action is non stop and the suspencefull is constant. The scenes are very detailed and vivid. Great read!

Old Irving Park is one of those nice roller coaster rides that you get on and you don't want it to end! The cast of characters is quirky and unique and the history behind the real town of Old Irving Park is creative and made me want to know more about its real roots. You can tell that the author has a real love for the great city of Chicago and it shows through its intricate details of the setting. I don't want to give too much away here, but if you love a dose of horror, humor, and history mixed up in a cocktail of intrigue and explosions you'll love this book! I really had a fun time reading, and look forward to the sequel!

I thought this book was great! David mixed the elements of a super horror mystery with a lot of historical references. You can tell he grew up in Chicago with a lot of in depth detail about the city. I started reading the book on a flight to CA and kept reading as we landed. It's one of those books you don't want to put down. I'm looking forward to David's next book - perhaps a sequel??

A very enjoyable and suspenseful read! A thoroughly written plot with well developed characters set against the backdrop of wintery Chicago. If you enjoy reading supernatural thrillers,I highly recommend this book!
