Orlimar Golf Escape Mid-Mallet Chipper

7 handicap…. One big weakness in my game is catching a chip thin from a tight dry lie or fat from a wet fairway green side. This is the perfect club to have as an option when those shots present themselves. I’ve used it for only two rounds but I’m sure it’s saved me two strokes each time. If you can get over the cool points you loose by putting this in your bag you’ll be happy….

This club has improved my game exponentially. Years ago I had a chipper which I recently pulled out of the closet to try again. It was certainly better than putting from off the green but the weight was in the middle, behind the ball, so if it wasn’t struck perfectly it would go offline. I decided that I needed a chipper that was perimeter weighted. When I found the Orlimar Escape Chipper it seemed to check all the boxes. Wow! Now I am chipping the ball where I want it so no longer doing bump and runs with an iron or trying to gently hit a wedge or attempting a flop shot (very bad idea for senior amateurs). The only challenge now is to learn the distances which gets better every time I use it. I did have an oversized putter grip added to it which I haven’t tried yet. My theory is that since you basically use a putting swing, it should feel similar to holding the putter.

This chipper has a nice weight to it. Some chippers are too light. I'm happy with it. It's much easier than trying to chip with an 8 iron. No thin shots.
