Collier's Junior Classics (10 Volume Set) Hardcover – January 1, 1962

I saw several offers for this book collection. My parents bought the whole Collier's encyclopedia collection with the childrens books for my siblings and I when we were in grade school (1970s). They got rid of these as they got older but I never forgot the children's junior classics and wanted to see if someone offered them now. Even though these were used, this complete collection was in awesome shape. I didn't even see any wear on the books. The price was fantastic. It had all of the poems and stories I would read over and over.

With cancel culture running amuck and all the books that have been edited and taken out of schools as well as the selling market is nice to be able to have something that's still true and is a excellent tool in helping a child's creativity, imagination, and academic education grow.

Collier's Junior Classics Volumes 1 - 10 were given to me back in 1977, and I still have the collection, though it looks a little worse for wear...I loved the stories in these books when I was a child, and I re-read them many times while growing up. I continued to read the stories to my children while they grew up, and recently my 26 y/o daughter asked me if she could have them to read to her children. Well, I wanted her to have them, but I still had an attachment to the collection, so I looked online for a set for her very own, and I was so excited when I found them!! I ordered them right away at an amazingly affordable price, and had them shipped to my daughter. They arrived promptly and in very good condition. My daughter has told me how happy she is to have them and her son has already enjoyed many of my favorite classics! She has just had a new baby and I'm sure her daughter will love all the stories as much as my daughter did and as I did...

I taught myself how to read using these books as a little girl. How I loved the rhymes and the stories. This set grows with one - starting with simple rhymes by A.A. Milne and the like in the first book up to complex stories and informational material in the last. I adored these books as a little girl.I gave the set to my grandsons for Christmas this year and read several of the stories within. With all the technology today, I'm not sure that they will be as cherished as when I used them, but I hope that they pass them down and read the same stories to their children some day. They are a special set of books.

I used to read these books as a child. I found them here on Amazon and was able to receive them on time and in very good condition, considering how old the set is. The stories are simply wonderful, taking me to another world once I start leafing through the pages. My daughter is starting on her first book (of 10) and is already loving it. There's something so soothing about turning the pages of an old book along with that old book smell. I feel fortunate to be able to enjoy these stories again.

They were not what i expected- my fault. Didn’t read description well enough. Different set of stories than what I had. Traumatized by losing my childhood set in hurricane Harvey and was just trying to replace quick. Nice books.

The photos included with the product description can be mis-leading. This set was completely changed in later print editions but are all lumped together on the Amazon pages. I emailed a number of the sellers and found about a 50-50 split between the product I wanted and the newer edition that I didn't want. The good news is the seller allowed me to return my first incorrect order and I got what I wanted from a different seller. The books are in great shape for their age and I'm now happy. But, you must understand what you're getting.
