Good tool let down by the software
I've only rated this as one star, not for the product itself, but as a result of the lack of conenctions and the bundled software. The hardware installed easily on Windows 7 Pro (64 bit), with the included drivers. There is a USB extension included that makes it easier to locate the VCR / Camera instead of balancing it on the computer. After that is where the problem starts. All VCR and Cameras have either a scart connector and/or female connections for video and audio. The unit ALSO comes with female connections. Thus you MUST obtain extra connectors:VCR with Scart output - A scart to phono convertor with male connectors 5m SCART to 3 x Phono AV Cable (Direction Switchable) red white yellow rca cctv av etc. 5 metres or a Scart to female connectors Gold Switchable Scart to 3 x Phono & S-Video Adaptor by Cable Mountain AND a Male to Male connector 1.2m TRIPLE RCA Cable - Premium Quality / 24k Gold / Male to Male / Left & Right Audio & Video / Stereo / 3RCA / 3xRCA VCR with RCA output Male to Male connector 1.2m TRIPLE RCA Cable - Premium Quality / 24k Gold / Male to Male / Left & Right Audio & Video / Stereo / 3RCA / 3xRCA For a Camera - the S-video cable should work for the video, but you WILL need an audio connection - see your camera details. The bundled software - mine came with CyberLink PowerDirector 7, not 6 as per the details, and CyberLink PowerProducer 5. These products are limited OEM versions of the full product, which, within reason, I can accept. The problem lies in the "limitation" process - you cannot register the software, but you keep getting the registration form EVERY time you start the program. I contacted the Cyberlink support, and recieved a "polite???" (paraphrased) comment to 'Just ignore it, or buy the real product!' There are several other usability problems with the software especially the one that defaults the whole editing process to NTSC - to reset to PAL is hidden in the preferences.Overall, a very klutzy piece of editing software. If you have software to action the capture and editing, then the hardware is very good, but if you dont' have the software, then this package may not be the best purchase!

Two Stars
Was no at all what I expected. The items I received had CDs missing.

Does the job.
I've tried plenty of video capture devices from all of the big names, but I've either had issues installing them or the video capture was unusable.I was therefore pleasantly surprised when the Kworld DVD Maker2 device and software installed without an issue under Windows 7 64 bit and then pleased when it captured video without issue. The device itself is small and is designed to be attached to the video device via cables, rather than attaching directly. The bundled Cyberlink Director and Producer software is okay and does the job, though could be laid out better. On the downside there is no support for component/RGB Scart, which would allow for a far better picture than S-Video, which is the best connection the DVD Maker2 has to offer. The lack of support for these superior European standards is the main reason for the loss of the star.Of course the best option is to avoid analogue capture completely if you can, but in many cases this is not an option.

Brings VHS-C To Life! But Don't Forget The Extras!
Had a VHS-C camera (that's like a mini VHS tape) a few years ago and we filmed loads of the kids early years but as the advent of DVD then Digital and MPEGs (and all the other formats) came in then our film collection shifted to DVD and we dumped off all but one of the VHS players in the house. And thank goodness we did have one. Before buying you need to understand a few things:This is a very good bit of kit BUT it is useless for transferring VHS tapes over UNLESS you have a working VHS player and two other bits of kit - namely a 3 RCA Plug to 3 RCA Plug cable and a SCART Adapter - 3 PHONO + S-VHS IN/OUT. I tried to save money and use the SCART adapter I had with a Gamecube, but you need the one with all the SCART pins. Both the cable and adapter were bought off sellers on Amazon for under £2/3 each and delivered very fast - just make sure you can get your hands on a working VHS player.Once loaded up the only issue I had was finding the correct PAL setting in the options for display as initially everything came through Black and White. Then you literally play the videos all the way through clicking the widget on at the start of the clip and off at the end and you can watch it in a window on the menu. The software provided burns a menu orientated DVD.The results?Astonishing. It was hard to believe that the quality produced was off VHS over ten years old.I messed about and actually edited a clip but our initial aim was to convert the old tapes into digital format. As a guide a 30 minute clip took up up about 2GB - I haven't tried compressing them or converting to a lower res format just yet.And after you've done all the tapes..........well there are the possibilities of TV and video game capture to look at, just haven't needed that yet. All in all though it saved the cost of paying someone else to do it and made it nice and easy.

Doesn't do what it says on the tin... sorry box!
As a mac owner I purchased this thinking it would do what it stated in the products own review ie work on a mac.The only software that comes with this package is for PC's.Mac users do not waste your time on this product... you will be as disappointed as I was.Expletives omitted...:(

Good Quality Capture Device
I have tried many, many other USB type capture devices and this one has delivered the best quality of them all. I am using it to transfer my old VHS tapes to DVD and so far the results have been excellent. No installation difficulties experienced. As well as the enclosed Power Director software it works with Serif Movie Plus and Magix software but not with Windows Movie Maker.Highly recommended.

Shame it all sticks out of the computer hanging on a fine connector as the cables weigh it
