A must for anyone who regular cuts up watermelon. It is an understatement to say this a huge improvement over a carving knife. When you get a few minutes practice at the concept, you can cut a whole watermelon up in edible pieces in about a minute, leaving only the two half sphere rinds filled with ALL the juices. NO puddles of wasted watermelon juice and pile of rinds. You can either slice one way for bigger slices or crosscut those slices while still in the rind and get the finger food size cube strips. The only criticism I have is there were no instructions. Pretty simple, yes, but still needs a few mentions on techniques. Note the picture on the box to see how they got a good grip on those slices. Awesome product.

I had another one of these tools that failed after several years of use because one of the wire ends broke off. I really liked it because it made cutting the ends of a watermelon easy. I purchased this one as a replacement and immediately noticed that the wire is thicker which makes it quite a bit harder to cut/pull through the watermelon. Perhaps it's going to be a trade-off between longevity and ease of use.

I love this gadget! The pin between the side knives broke after about 10 uses. I replaced it with 18 gauge wire and it works great! I was a little disappointed that it broke so quickly though.

My husband got this for me thinking it would make cutting up a melon easier. It doesn't. It is hard to use because of the angle you have to hold it. And it makes columns of watermelon. I prefer squares. I wanted to like it but I just couldn't.

I read the reviews about how the slices were turning to mush so I took a chance and sure enough the first slice started well but then got skinny as I pressed the handles together. So I thought, how do I keep these handles apart? I put my index finger between the two so that the stayed separated and voila! This was only my first attempt so it will get better with practice but it does as advertised. Just don't grip the handles like a knife!

First of all, This is an amazing idea.I usually prefer using an 8 inch chef knife or 8 inch wavy edge bread knife to take off the green and white layer of any melon including water melon, cantaloupe or honeydew etc.But if you get this tool you will get it done on a different way that might help you out very much especially in the part of mess-less, when you cut the melons with a knife you need to get a cutting board and then.... make sure you wont have the juice running around your kitchen but with this tool all the juice will stay in the peel of the melon.Buy this you will enjoy it.

Happy with material and manufacturing but found it hard to keep watermelon in place and still use cutter. Melon kept sliding on me. Might work better with desserts.
