WORTH THE $$ AND SPACE IN YOUR CABINET!
I LOVE THIS THING!!! I almost always have a supply of hard boiled eggs in my fridge because they're basically a perfect food! It's a quick, on the go snack, or you can add it to salads, make a quick egg salad sandwich, whatever! I am a pretty good cook, but for some crazy reason, I COULD NOT make a hard boiled egg...I mean seriously...how freakin' hard could it be? I either wouldn't get them done enough, or I would walk away and forget they were on the stove...If you've ever wondered if eggs can explode, I'm here to tell you, they do, if you leave them on the stove long enough that the water evaporates. THEY WILL EXPLODE!!! Sadly I've done that twice! FAIL!!!! Then the other issue is the peeling part....UGH! By the time I would be finished peeling them, there was hardly any egg left. I tried all the tricks....salt in the water, baking soda in the water, fresh eggs, week old eggs, brown eggs, cage free eggs, organic, putting them in the oven in a muffin tin....I was literally a mad woman trying to master the hard cooked egg and finally, I saw this thing!!!! For the $13 or whatever it was, I thought I would try it! It is possibly my favorite kitchen gadget....EVER!!! So easy to use. Honestly, you could probably let a 5-year-old use it. You might have to oversee the egg piercing part. The egg cooker comes with a little water measuring cup and in the bottom of it has a little sharp point that you need to pierce the eggs with to allow steam to escape (otherwise more exploding eggs). You fill the cup to the mark (depending on if you want soft or hard cooked eggs), dump it in the black part of the cooker, place the egg tray on top, load your eggs, put the top on, hit the ON switch and WALK AWAY! It automatically shuts off when all of the water has evaporated. VOILA!!! Perfect hard cooked eggs. And they peel like a dream! Only bad thing, which I don't even care, at least one egg per batch seems to be over loaded on the white part and it will seep out through the hole that you've pierced, but that certainly is not a defect on this little magic tool! It also has the capability to poach and soft cook eggs. I have not tried this and probably won't just because I don't really eat eggs that way, but this is one of those things that I refer to as a "little thing, big love!!!" It makes me happy every time I get it out to make my eggs.. It will be $ well spent and worth the little bit of space in your cabinet or countertop.

No Alarm = No Problems
I first encountered an egg steamer at a backpacker hostel in Thailand. Never before had I realized that hard/softboiled eggs were actually worth eating. When I got back stateside I remembered why I didn't make them before: boiling water is BORING and a waste of a pot for 1 or two eggs. Wanting to relive the magic, I found this specific cooker, and its perfect for me.PROS:+NO BEEPING! SO QUIET! I read this is a problem with many egg cookers. Make sure you buy the EGC-207 version though+Super simple (add water --> flips switch --> receive egg)+Included water measuring cup accurately tells you how much water to add for cooked vs runny yoke+Compact but still cooks up to 7 eggs at a time (thats a lot of eggs man)+Cooks fast, Indicator light turns off when readyCONS-None I can think ofCOOKING TIP-> Even though the switch turns off after cooking, the steam inside the container will continue to cook the egg. In other words, if you put you egg in to cook, take a shower, and come back well after the cooker auto turns off, the egg will not be as runny as you anticipated.-->The amount of water determines the cooking time. Keep an eye on the red light and see when it clicks off

So convenient
Love that the "done" timer on this model doesn't sound like a fire alarm. Love that I can make only two eggs and that so far they have boiled just as I wanted...thanks to the special little water measure included. No problem with the way the egg poacher works, but still prefer frying pan scrambled eggs. But, did make a neat little spinach/feta cheese omelet. What I'm not fond of is the chintzy little light weight plastic lid! Overall, it's perfect for those times you need just "a few eggs", and you need them now!!!

Years of use
I've had this for a few years now. It has been trouble free.It also does a wonderful job hard boiling eggs. How it operates - Poke a hole in the eggs with the cup mounted needle (Surprising to me, the needle makes a clean hole and doesn't otherwise crack the shell.) and place the eggs on the egg tray with the holes up. Put the included cup measured amount of water, a surprisingly small amount, on the heating element. Put the egg tray and eggs on top of that and put the clear dome on top of the tray. Turn it on.And that's it.It turns itself off automatically when the eggs are done. And they are done perfectly. Now, as soon as you can put the eggs into a very cold (ice) water bath until they cool and they will peel easily, very fresh eggs or not it doesn't matter.Advantages - No more waiting for the water to boil, forgetting to put in the eggs, counting minutes, forgetting to take out the boiling eggs, getting over or under cooked eggs, forgetting to turn off the stove burner, etc... Seriously, no more hard boiled egg anxiety, minor as it may be, or frustration. Easy clean up, just wipe it off.Disadvantages - None.I see the new model has a buzzer. That's good and bad in that it disturbs the kitchen quiet but also reminds you when it's time for the cold water bath.Highly recommended.
