Same book as Akata Warrior different title
My 11 year old daughter read Akata Witch & Warrior. I bought this along with What Sunny saw in the flames thinking it was an extension to the two books. I was wrong Sunny & the Mysteries of the Osisi is the exact book as Akata Warrior just a different title. The same goes for What Sunny saw in the flames is the same book as Akata Witch. She ended up giving the books to her friend. Together they both love the books. They have lengthy conversations about the book and as a mother it is a joy to see. I'm only writing a review to let others know so they don't make the same mistake. Although for me, my mistake was meant to be it has strengthened a love of reading, imagination, & friendship.

Excellent series; just make sure you don’t buy it twice! Same as Akata Warrior!
Although I enjoyed Akata Witch and Akata Warrior, I found myself disappointed when I bought Sunny and the Mysteries of Osisi, it’s the same as Akata Warrior. This author if not amazon really owes her readers the courtesy of telling them that it’s the same book. From a previous review Akata Witch is the same as What Sunny Saw in the Flames. I get that Akata is an epithet but for people who truly enjoy your books you should be transparent. Otherwise a beautifully written series.

Magical, alternate realities and dimensions, Africa and America - futuristic and traditional, an epic hero's journey!
I am a very serious fan of Nnedi Okorafor's work. I had avoided reading this series because I'm not much interested in "witch" themes but this series is absolutely magical! I'm reading a lot about alternate dimensions, epigenetics and physics, this book seemed to be speaking directly to those theories but through an African filter that I adored. I've recommended it to everyone I know and I just hope she keeps writing!

Great sequel
Also known as Akata Warrior. Great follow-up to Akata Witch. Okorafor brings African stories to life.
