DesignThe design of the product is similar to other vacuum robots on the market. It is sleek and modern looking and would fit into most any decor. The charging base does take up some space, and you need to make sure to leave 2-3 additional feet around the base clear from obstacles. The base does house the removable dust bag, which is better than housing it on the actual vacuum itself as it can hold more dust which means more infrequent changing.OperationThis is our first robot vacuum, but based off of other users reviews online, these newer robot vacuums are way more efficient, powerful and feature rich than older higher end models.The company makes the whole set up very easy and intuitive. They include a quick start guide and when you scan the QR code, it takes you to the set up instructions, app set up, and helpful videos.After you find a good location for the base (make sure to put against a wall and leave 2-3 feet of clear space around it) and run it for the first time, the vacuum will basically go around and “scan” the layout of your house. It’s amazing how accurate the sensors are in the vacuum. You will see the vacuum mapping your room layouts as it goes along the edge of each room. I got nervous when the vacuum approached the basement stairs, but the sensor on the bottom worked perfectly and didn’t allow the vacuum to fall down the stairs.Once the mapping is complete, you can then start to vacuum in a variety of ways through the app on your phone.Some other great features: the ability to just select specific rooms to clean, setting up restricted areas around furniture or delicate obstacles, scheduling cleaning sessions, setting the suction level (we just leave it on “strong” all the time), auto returning to base to empty dust into bag and auto recharging when battery is low.The app is well thought out and will let you know visually where the vacuum has cleaned and the path it is taking. It will also notify you if there are any issues like a stuck roller brush or low battery.We haven’t used the mopping feature extensively, only in the kitchen, but it seems to work great at light messes and cleaning. You do have the ability to set the amount of water applied to the floor when mopping which is nice for dirtier floors. Just don’t expect it to do as good a job as a manual floor scrubbing or mopping.LimitationsThis will never beat the suction or cleaning power of a dedicated vacuum (especially on thick carpet) or beat a good old traditional wet mopping or scrubbing by hand. Basically, don’t expect this to perform super deep cleanings. We will most likely deep clean mop once in a long while and use the robot to maintain and spot mop in between when needed. For general vacuuming of dust and pet hair, it works flawlessly.Wish they included a few more extra dust bags. We will be looking for compatible dust bags that are a reasonable price online. Shouldn’t be a big issue, but just realize that if you run the vacuum frequently and have lots of pet hair or dust, the bag will fill up faster and will need replacing more frequently. We will have to use it more to see what our average bag replacement time is.Not sure yet how you would be able to use this on different floors of a house. Need to do more research online and see if anyone has set it up to do this. For our household, it’s not a huge deal as most of our cleaning needs are on our main floor.Once minor hiccup we noticed is that when the robot returns to the base to empty dust and auto charge, it will position itself to dock, but when it tries docking, it will move back out and go through the docking process several times before locking in the base. Not sure if this is normal or not. The good thing is that after several attempts, it always manages to successfully dock by itself…just takes a couple tries sometimes.The battery does allow the robot to vacuum and mop for quite a while, but just know that the more furniture and obstacles it has to navigate, it will take way longer and drain the battery faster (see tip about this below).TipsIf you have lots of furniture with legs, it will significantly spend time and drain battery navigating around each leg. To solve this, you could either set up a restricted area around furniture, or (what we do) clear the easily moveable furniture in one room, vacuum it, then move other furniture to the clean room, then have it vacuum the rest of the rooms. It is a little extra effort on my part, but it gets done with vacuuming way faster, is more efficient, and does a better job with fewer obstacles.Make sure to clear the roller brush on the bottom semi-frequently to keep the suction up and operation smooth. If it does get too much hair stuck, the app will let you know that it needs to be cleaned and cleared. Good thing is they made it super easy to remove the roller and clean.Although the sleek materials for the vacuum looks great, it attracts fingerprints and dust very easily. Make sure to use a microfiber cloth and wipe down the housing once in a while. It will look better and keep the sensors cleared of any obstructions.Make sure that there are no loose strings, rubber bands, small objects, curtain tassels, etc, that can get sucked in and jam the roller brush. A quick visual scan of the floors for kids toys, objects, etc, would be a good idea.Final thoughtsOnce you get this robot vacuum set up and learn all the features, it really is a well designed “smart” vacuum that is more than capable in keeping hard floors clean and hair and dust free. The mopping feature is nice to have and will be great for in between deeper manual scrubbings. This definitely has made managing pet hair and dust alot easier and has saved us time. As long as you follow the basic cleaning and maintenance tips, and understand its limitations, this vacuum should be of great service for a long time.
