Lovely Little Alternative Guide Book
This book is about nooks and crannies and the wonders therein. It is for dipping in and out of, rather than reading cover-to-cover but it is nothing more than it claims to be; an unusual guide.I bought this book to help me discover a side to a city I only had a cosmetic understanding of and it has not failed to both inspire and delight in equal measure. I like the fact that it has almost beligerently sought out the least accessible and popular places for a potential tourist to go to. I like that it is looking at old drinking fountains and dental museums with a sense of wonder. It is essentially breaking this huge city down into its respective small villages then treating each as if it were nothing more or less than just that.Do not buy this book if you are after somewhere 'different' to take the children, it is not that kind of book. Neither should it be used as a sole recourse for a day-out. It is more useful as a source of reference as you transit through areas (preferably by foot) to help wonder at the sheer scale of diversity the cities history has to offer.Overall, I would recommend this book to those who are looking to discover more about London than its top 10 attractions on tripadvisor.

What do you want this book to do for you?
The book did not match my expectations. Its a guidebook to some hidden gems in London. There are some excellent suggestions for places to visit, but essentially it is a guidebook which allows you to walk around London and gives you ideas for places to visit or things to see. There is some information about London, but it is not as informative as I would have liked it to be. Also, some of the visiting suggestions are closed to the public unless by appointment and you need to contact the organisation in advance to see or take a tour. I would be reluctant to do so. However, the guidebook does tell you about charges, opening times, etc if applicable. The idea that the book is about "Secret" London is a bit misleading, as its more to do with places that go under the radar rather than secret.

Fascinating facts
This is a fascinating little book. I've already visited one of the places in London mentioned by the book & unless you'd read the book or had local knowledge you'd never have known it was there. I think this book will be well worn quite quickly.

the derive is definitely good, but this book disappoints me a bit.
I thought this must be a terrific book. But when i open it, only few pictures. and all are text and they are telling very tiny things, like a wall, a building, not a introduction of the background etc.I am actually looking for a book introducing a interesting place with its unique history, story and distant decorations or a spacial area.

A much appreciated gift for London explorers.
This was a gift and the recipient was completely fascinated by the amount of interesting information on places that he had never come across during his many walks around London. Nicely illustrated and a handy size to carry essily when exploring.

Nice looking publication but not really an unusual guide which is what I thought it would be, by not showing something more than it did... Such a shame. The information provided and within the book can be found just by a few general searches on the internet, nothing new or obscure which I was hoping for as a guide for new places to visit and see on my next adventure in London.
