Bodhi Tree, Ficus religiosa is said to be the tree for which Buddha sat under and gained enlightenment. It is considered to have a religious significance in three major religions, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. Native to India, China and Southeast Asia, the bodhi tree in optimum conditions can reach a height of 100 feet tall with a canopy 100 feet wide! They are very long living trees, the oldest one in India is said to be over 3,000 years old! Need full sun, and well draining soil. May be grown as container plant in cold areas. Move indoors when temperatures dip below 35 degrees F. USDA Zone 10-12. PLEASE NOTE: Our Bodhi trees will be shipped bare-root (no soil or pot) with most leaves removed. Bodhi trees have large leaves so we remove most of the leaves prior to shipping to reduce stress on them during transit. Do not worry though, they will quickly push out new leaves.
