Dangerous, be careful. The surface is covered with something metallic, for whatever reason. The short circuit it caused hit so hard that it destroyed my light switch. I am fuming.

I am not sure it is legal to sell these, they don't do what they are supposed to and instead create a short circuit. This blew all the bulbs I had inserted and damaged my lighting circuit

Other reviewers claiming these are dangerous don't understand what they are. These are presentation converters, not voltage converters - you can't fit this into a 230V GU10 lampholder then insert a 12V MR16 lamp. Well, physically you can, but you'll be picking bits of glass out of your eyeballs. These allow a 230V light to be converted to 12V operation IF YOU ALSO INSTALL A 12V TRANSFORMER/LED DRIVER on the feed to the light. I use them for converting GU10 garden spike lights to 12V because trailing mains voltage cables around flowerbeds is a daft thing to do. With a transformer at one end and 12V lamps fitted at the other thanks to converter products like this, I can install outdoor garden lighting where there is no trip or shock risk even if they become waterlogged or someone snips the cable while pruning their dahlias. Be aware however that your GU10 lamp needs to be deep enough to allow the MR16/MR11 lamp plus the converter.
